When the plate arrived, I put these and partitioned first into a hard drive enclosure. Using the disk utility (later also with CarbonCopyCloner) the entire contents of my old drive was pulled to the Momentus XT, ie 1: 1 mirrored. Then installed the new drive in my Macbook and started.
First disappointment: Start time -> First boot (and all subsequent boots) of Macbooks lasted about as long as the old disk (about 1 min 50 sec). Since the restart in the Apple world very rarely carried out, I did not let myself be swayed this way.
The first few minutes in my first Mountain Lion ran smoothly. The apps were launched much more quickly, and the Switch among themselves ran smoothly. But my joy did not last long. At idle, the hard drive has eventually hung up, the result was the pretty beach ball (which in Windows is the hourglass) and continuous freezer. It only helped the restart, which brought about the second problem. At start-up the two symbols "Hold prohibited sign" and "folder with an exclamation point" came one after the other in quick succession. Apparently there was problems with this disk as the startup disk.
I crossed first few forums and led folgedes by:
- Hard disk, this time with mirrored CarbonCopyCloner
- PRRAM reset (CMD + ALT + P + R)
- Firmware the Momentus XT to the SD28 update (here you have to download the firmware as .iso, burn them to CD and can boot the Macbook from the CD).
Checked start volume in the Settings -
The reboot worked from this time now .... but the hard drive continues to react with constant (on) hangers, was now noticeably slower than at the beginning, everything seemed very sluggish. I read the plate about rödeln an hour without success. I have not got this board up and running and had sometime the snout fully. I give the panel an extra point since I first realized what "can" afford this plate.
Have these now returned and waiting today to WD7500BPKT Scorpio Black!
