The beginner Player from Sony (same model as the DVP-S 335, only in silver) offers the usual Sony quality, especially in the field of image sharpness, where it exceeds the DVD player of the competition. I personally think it is a great disadvantage that neither the DVP-S 335 nor the DVP-S can read 435 home-burned CDs or CD-RWs, which however with the new models (Sony DVP-NS300) is possible.
