Although at first listen I was yet something: his style has not changed at first eavesdropper Adam Youngs. His mid-tempo songs are still as dreamy as in the days of "Ocean Eyes", the choice of topics has also hardly changed. It's still about the finer things in life in order, as always told little miracle in this world visionary. Unless, Sogut, but actually I was expecting more. A small change in style, perhaps even an increase in the sounds, new contrasts, WHATEVER.
And indeed, you have to listen twice to also discover the small but powerful changes. Because as they are, you just have to listen more closely: "The Real Word", the quasi represents a clash of Adams world and reality, the album highlight "Kamikaze" falling out with shouts and militant text something from the other style, "Hospital Flowers "in which it is the discovery of one's own mortality new hope and finally" Galaxies "that is so much deeper despite the dancefloor heavy shooting sounds than you might think at first, it is but the death of the astronauts of the Space Shutte Challanger dating 1986th
It is at these points where the sound of Adam Young (so it) learns new contrasts, this album can be particularly captivate, he would this change something radical and pulled on the entire album, it would have been well managed, "Ocean Eyes" yet be topped, or to achieve it at least. But so has "All Things Bright and Beautiful" Unfortunately its weaknesses. "Honey and the Bee" would be a nice, if somewhat simple song, if it were not for this guest singer whose voice was so clogged with effects that the song by but is rather annoying. The same is true, though not as extreme, for "The Yacht Club", the negative attention especially by the all too simple knitted structure and Euro Dance-effects. Basically, one is willing to forgive Adam Young something, but better the album will not provide.
The rest of the song is solid and nice to listen to, though without further changes. To emphasize are still the nice crisp "Deer in the Headlights" and "Plant Life", which has also managed to escape Owl City's standard sound almost.
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, a good second album (or third work, as you look at it), which although does not reach the beauty of "Ocean Eyes", but are at least in parts effort to enter new territory. People who do not want to have "Ocean Eyes" I advise drigend not accepted it, fans of Owl City should by no means be disappointed.
