First, I found the idea of a action / RPG in the western genre to settle not so appealing. This was probably my marked by poorly made spaghetti westerns picture of that epoch. But I need after hours, if not already hold many days of gaming: RDR is one of the best games I have ever come across. Starting on the stunning scenery of the Wild West in the early 20th century to the almost infinite variety of possibilities offered by the game. Of the story, although sometimes a bit contrived comes along, but on the whole, positive and entertaining is, At the beginning of the story it has little money and weapons which can gradually be released in various versions throughout the game. In addition to weapons can also be different horses, outfits and flats buy, but not until after they have been unlocked. The gameplay is smooth after a short adjustment period, only if there is at shootings and the like is hectic, the actor John Marston behaves partly somewhat sedate (just as you know it from the GTA series already). The landscapes and environments are, as already mentioned, very impressive. The spectrum ranges from snow-capped peaks on the dry grasslands of the Great Plains through to the hot Mexican desert. The story itself revolves around the former professional crooks John Marston, who is being blackmailed by the government to fulfill various orders who regularly deal with it, to lay some villains the craft. As the game progresses to Marston developed on and on, he learned new skills, met countless side missions, gets new equipment and discovered new areas on the map. The atmosphere generated here is breathtaking: created by the music and the background noise during the game, the unexpected events and the beasts of the player the feeling of being constantly under threat and therefore to always have to prepare for an attack. One criticism falls to me then but a: the constant attacks by wild animals, especially here be mentioned the annoying mountain lions, bears and wild boars rabid. Although you can most critters with more or less many balls kill, but create it again and again, at least the mount of Marston to hunt. Then you have every time on the inventory approach creating a new horse that takes time and especially nervous. But that was my only criticism of an otherwise above average game.
Conclusion: a really entertaining game that offers an unusual game idea, a great atmosphere and a fun-filled gameplay.
