The Extraordinary Adventures of Herman van Veen is the soundtrack to one of my childhood favorite television series. The starting point for the many adventures of the Dutch entertainer Herman van Veen is a windmill in the midst of high-rise buildings. The songs deal with everyday situations and fears of children from a different perspective illuminated. I listen to this music like to let me sprinkle a bit and relax. My children hear it every night to fall asleep to. Since the subjects of the songs in the special appeal to children in primary school age and the lyrics are sung clearly, the content of the songs is also readily understood by younger children. By humorous treatment of the issues which otherwise make children more afraid to deal openly with these issues and a constructive discussion with the children possible. As an example I would like to mention at this point the issue of ghosts. My children could for a song or a story in which a spirit or ghost occurs normally not fall asleep easily, but in this case is the theme funny and told from the perspective of a fearful specter and makes no trouble falling asleep. As found in the songs and my children known characters is the acceptance of the songs the greater.
