Prior to this review, I have my review of "Dark Passion Play" again read (been? Really already 7 years) in order to classify it better, and all reviews on "Endless ..." to times capture the mood. Apparently I am not alone with my little helpless impression. Whereas in DPP simply was too much of everything and the then new singer Anette unfortunately completely went down, I liked "Imaginearum" feeling much better and I hear it often. Although I admittedly had a smile a bit about the vocal lines that had been scaled back because Anette could not keep up with the usual Nightwish extent. Then came "Showtime, storytime" what I hear up and down. Floors voice gives me both the force and the power of expression and of course especially in scope a shower after the other over the back. As then "Endless ..." was announced, I was like: "Yeah, that is horny, horny, horny Finally back format!" But what is now happening, I would have to actually think Tuomas has not only started last week or last month to write the title, but had probably some of them already years in the drawer or at least in your mind. Accordingly, they are influenced by the fact that they should be sung by a singer like Anette: good, but not strong voice that will prefer the loose chest voice. (That was in "DPP" even that. Although Tarja was already 3 years away at the time, one could hear that the title for a singer had been written with a large vocal range.) I hear the album just for the 7th or 8th time and notice increasingly places where Floor their potential but somehow exploits or at least suggests. But mainly because the first impression counts, at first I was quite disappointed and found it boring, arbitrary, interchangeable. At the time I might have given 2 stars. Likewise, it was me with the melodies. In the end I thought, "Uh, what do I have now just heard?" I really was not a single piece in the ear hanging. It lacked the big, epic, catchy melodies. It lacked the hardness. There was the pain of Tuomas' previous personal problems and depressive phases, which otherwise went me to the core. With each hearing, however, it was better. I listen out more details, more highlights. Very nice, I think now now that Nightwish have maintained their style with the guitar choruses orchestral wall of sound, it nevertheless no longer overloaded sounds like "DPP". Nevertheless, you can feel the changes that have taken place in the band: drummer others, another singer, a new member. I really can not fix something, let alone put it into words. Maybe that comes later. In any case, there is a change. The band has become adult, the items are knitted more complicated. I like what has arisen under the influence of the new member Troy (and even under Marcos, for he had his inclination to "country music" already shown on DPP). However, this Irish folk-Touch is now much more homogeneous fit into the overall picture than before and therefore an asset rather than a brake. Therefore, probably is also "My Walden" rejected the piece at the 2nd or 3rd hearing, initially I liked best and which I still like very much. Meanwhile, however, is also "Shudder before the beautiful" my favorite because you are most likely the very typical Nightwish-line listening out here, and "Endless Forms Most Beautiful". Probably because here Floor and most comes from itself out. Toll I find as the second part of "The Greatest Show on Earth" with Floors chanting. Where "Alpenglow" also has what. The tune is actually typical Tuomas ... Really disappointed I am in total but only of "The Eyes of Sharbat Gula". So far, the band could ever convince me of their instrumentals. The fail many. After I then read something in an interview about the inspiration for this song, I was expecting wonderful thing. The music talks for itself, because words are not enough. Hm, well. Mir said the name absolutely nothing and the music for much less. I fear that is for "Kuolema tekee taiteilijan" (Once) the second Nightwish song that flies from my iPod because I think it's just a soporific. "The greatest ..." is difficult to assess. That it is long, do not bother me. That may be great, Nightwish have already proved with songs like "Ghost Love Score". I would say if Tuomas an issue (almost) intends to implement a purely instrumental, he still has to exert powerful. If I had not known what it is, it would tell me any more than "The eyes ...". Although the few passages in it to explain a lot, but in music it can be found in my opinion not again. Since the animal sounds and baroque echoes do not help. So I need to decide on a number of stars me yes. As I said, at first I would have given only 2 stars. With each listen I found the album better, so I would have quickly changed to 3.5. But it's actually not the intention of having to hear a beautiful album. On the other hand I would not find a mediocre evaluation fair, because it is it to a lot of good points. Hm ... I think there is still room up for the future and that all sounds a bit like the handbrake on, I push now just to Anette. With ausladenderen vocals, the album would certainly have been a blast immediately. Because the rest of the band can not help it, I admit now just 4 stars and look forward to any event on the concert.
