Le silence est dor, corn jai choisi la cadence
Le roi est dans l tempo arène musicale
Amazingly, this record was released in the year 1991. I hear them still happy, although I really do not care for rap and hip-hop.
I admit that I like this record also mainly because MC Solaar sings in French, or raps. And that makes this maître de la rime urbaine here on a very cool, sophisticated and smart way.
The texts are linguistically sophisticated and shining with surprising references and witty formulations.
The board, however, convinced me because it has a lot of musicality and after all these years does not sound dusty. Surely this is due to the varied melodies, styles and rhythms. Some sound like jazz, another more like soul, funk or even after Raggamuffin. Even friends of bass music get their money.
Furthermore, it is understood MC Solaar to tell interesting stories or describe things from his daily meeting. This natural as befits a rapper: confident and anything but modest.
Notable examples of storytelling are:
Victime de la mode, Armand est mort, Caroline (with the beautiful line Je suis de las trèfle qui pique ton cœur) or Bouge de là.
These pieces could even put in a good French course from the 10th year.
Other songs are more descriptive in nature such as Matière Grasse contre matière grise, Lhistoire de lart or La musique adoucit les mœurs.
If the term flow in rap and hip-hop to be relevant, then mainly in these small linguistic works of art which then flow with an amazing ease.
In contrast to many other hip-hop is still missing even the mere shout out of criticism and rejection.
MC Solaar plays with the musical and rhythmic features of his chant. His rape pleasantly melodic sound usually. The excited vehemence of Quartier Nord and Ragga Jam is there almost an exception.
Solaar de la Rime, pas de la Solaar frime
Histoire de dire que ce et de prouver style extermine. (Lhistoire de lart)
Full marks to the maître du swing linguistique (A temps partiel).
