Making Mirrors (MP3 Download)

Customer Review

As (almost) everyone, the success of "Somebody That I used to know" who introduced me to Gotye and encouraged me to dive into his world by listening to this album. And like almost everyone probably, I was surprised by what I discovered. Those who expect the single clones go their way, "Making mirrors" is resolutely geared towards diversity - which is a priori a good thing - and maybe even a little too much as the CD loses its uniqueness. Between the title cut for FM, such as "Eyes wide open" and electro-acoustic testing of "State of the art", the big difference is huge! And finally, it appears frustrated to see that Wouter aka Gotye uses only too infrequently its first working instrument, his voice, yet capable of playing chameleon in many different registers, often preferring to bet on more trippy atmospheres and quite annoying vocal effects. Shame!
