- Shift 1 - Shift 2 -
After my shift 1 has quite liked (it was nevertheless not played long), I bought also Shift 2. One thing, I find it good. I also again Shift 1 rausgekramt to test the here often relied on reviews to new driving physics. From a world of difference because I can not see anything. For me, the shift driving 1 car better (quieter) straight and slightly nervous around curves, that's it. The difference is MMN. marginal.
- Realism / driveability -
Unlike 90% of Amazon customers, I've never raced with a souped up racing cars. Therefore, I also give off no assessment of whether the Physics Ultra-Realistic or Ultra ridiculous now. However, what I'm going for years is a "normal" street car and sometimes even a go-kart. The physics in Shift 2 I find very understandable, I have never had the impression that the car does anything now, which I did not expect. It pushes on the longitudinal axis, under control it if I a madman before a curve brake as (or the brake balance was shifting forward), it overrides if I at the corner exit too hard over the curbs boards (or, depending on performance + Setup too nervous Gasfuss I accelerate out) etc. etc.. After a period of acclimatization one has the ride on it and you get away with it rightly. That the car until "much later" come around than you do, I can not confirm. The review claiming the car driving "like on rails" and you can not get more cars to break, not even intentionally, are simply wrong ...
Slightly disappointed I am from damage model and its impact on driving behavior. Anyone who has ever played rFactor or something similar, who knows what is a "merciless" damage model. In Shift 2 can be the race yet carefree drive into the guard rail to an end even after a very violent impact. I honestly do not know if the damage option "only looks" or "full" at all makes a difference. Maybe even a bug?
Force feedback is once again become a version of vebesserter Rumble feature. Very very unfortunate Force Feedback can be so much more. (/ Edit the so is no longer correct, see below)
- Graphics -
The graphics are more or less, in some places but polished on Shift 1 level. I especially like here the night race. If you have left the opponents behind and will be chased by them on the course, the followspot brighten one's cockpit. One can imagine we close they are, or whether they start the same left or right one overtaking. This game makes dynamsiche light (for me) the night race Dern special intensive and therefore are worth a mention. :)
- The menu -
Amazing how something works for years, verschlimmbessern (like menus in games) so. Options changed with you, submenus you change with U and I and when they are once nested, one on here with J and K. Is saved with the right shift (!) Key. Oh man...
- Now a small tip for the (Control / handling) ridden -
I use a Logitech G25 and to my amazement it worked flawlessly on the spot. (Surprised, because it was assigned incorrectly in Shift 1 and was also mentioned in the Gamestar test that it is wrong again in Shift 2)
But in some races it happens that the middle of the race, "broken" was the control. It was almost as if he'd read in the race in the middle a new configuration and then activate them. Result: gas / brake pedal has no function and the steering wheel hit the slightest movement already full one (ie, I turn in "the real world" only a few degrees on the wheel and in the game there is a complete Lenkeinschag). The steering reminded me in this setting strongly to the reviews here that complained that the car swaying like boats and you can never be precisely controlled.
I have out erased on all standard profiles (in my case the path here would be: "C: \ games \ Electronic Arts \ SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED \ Controller Defaults \ PC". The certainly different Shift 2 is with you intalliert is not standard in the Programs folder) Now that I have deleted all the files in the subfolder "Controller Defaults \ PC \" I started the game again: Now there are new profiles automatically created and this had a different Dateigöße. (My old G25 Profile was 9 x kb in size, the new one is 10, x kb) In the game I still set the value at "steering" very high (pay at values% to 100%, at 360 degrees) that has helped me.
All those who have boats: you can indeed times the test (and possibly then give a comment here, if it has brought what.)
-> Delete Controller Profile
-> Shift 2 start
-> The value for steering angle set very high

After a few days and a few virtual km more on the clock here are a few extensions for review.
- Deleting the controller profile does not lead to the fact that a change in absolute values in% values .... This is (if you have installed them or not) alone at the Logitech Profiler or on the "Logitech Gaming Software".
- My FFB works with the settings from the review of "Amazon hoodi" best so far and of "Advanced Rumble function" can now absolutely no question ... be finite. :)
- Pause the game, go to the FFB effects "broken" and it will be partly embezzled effects.. Sometimes you drive over curbs and on eg LK happens absolutely nothing.
And another important thing what was missing in my review so far, namely the (MMN.) Negative points:
*** Why 4 stars instead of 5? ***
- FFB bugs .. :)
- Making the motivation further, makes you look even I know that is in most racing sims and so therefore no real point of criticism.. But a bit more "extras" would certainly not be disturbed because ...
- ... The existing cutscenes are the "Story" * cough * are driving rather so-so. On the one hand Shift 2 would be the "most realistic racing game ever", in the cutscenes, it would then suddenly be still cool. Our little, chubby racer friend (with extra cool sunglasses) wants to teach us great things ... in the introduction to the drift exercises we are even extra gone into this disused port facility (!) To us (all illegal, hear hear) the Drifting to practice. Achje that needs to be? :) Sorry EA, but since Dirt 2 has the "Coolnesfaktor" Racing much better rübergebracht .. for just no real Sim-claim.
- Dam .... menu. Not only that one already described above, has very strange views about menu navigation, you have to come back to the main menu to screw on the car setup. Eben yet again * fast * Setup rebuilt front next races? -> Is nich.
- For a proper SIM missing a few things .. rain, pit stops, complete race weekends, etc.
Nevertheless -> the game is my fun, the cars go to super and the urge is still something to be better, is usually given.
