Johnny Cash - "Is not No Grave"

American VI: Is not No Grave (Audio CD)

Customer Review

A man who a few months before his death. He is in a wheelchair, is half blind and knows he will die soon. Nevertheless, he sings "Is not No Grave" - there is no grave. Wishful thinking? Or the knowledge that there is a life after death? And indeed, he lives on. At least in his music, in this album, that was published seven years after his death. Titles like "A Satisfied Mind", "I Do not Hurt Anymore" or "Aloha Oe" on the radio and tell of the survival of Johnny Cash. Even stations, play otherwise "alternative rock", who "Is not No Grave" in the program. What makes Johnny Cash and the "American Recordings" of his late years so interesting? Maybe that someone is singing here who actually knows what he sings. The authenticity of a man who experienced much and has nothing to gloss over. Grandiose, an album that gets under your skin.
