What is different?
Well, at first hearing is not much. The Sound has naturally improved compared to the previous albums. Punchy and clear tear out the voice and effect loaded Grooves. Once again the sound of the guitar is almost varies every second, but the applied effects never appear an end in itself and the basic sound remains the consistent but appropriate alienations the listener than the always get a guitar. Matt Garstka as "the new" is the trio all his predecessors in the shade. What he delivers on the drums, writes my opinion music history.
So far - so great. The highlight of the album is, however, this time, strange as it may sound, in what the band does. A small example: "Earth Departure" from the previous album is a furious firework art; a song that "Thumping" celebrated and, it seems, just as Showoff for these same devices are used. Although this is very fascinating and also while listening to fun, not only feels like a really Unfortunately song. Melodies, and this applies to almost all the songs before The Joy of Motion, the technical aspect were also always subordinate.
And that's what has changed in the latest work and makes The Joy of Motion by far the previous peak in the work of the band. Tosin seems to have become aware of the fact that one has understood in a four-minute track after two or three parts, which can make guitars with masterly leadership and takes the time to really beautiful and unique melodies that stay in your head. This increases the value of the tracks enormously and ensures a very homogeneous blend of awe and fascination and music matched to the point of emotion.
"Nephele" - the last track of the album, makes that obvious. After a tough Groove through multiple time changes the song moves suddenly completely back and a small guitar melody, accompanied by a sounding by Meeresrauschen backing track creates an unusually long calming influence before it then really get going again - just wonderful!
Who did not know Animals - this is the opportunity to get to know them. The album is due to many reasons the "beginner-friendly" of the band, but without giving up a touch of the values that have made large Tosin. Technical brilliance finally goes hand in hand with wonderful melodies and placed the trio on the zenith of their previous work.
