Dear me would have been, had the new Pentax Pentax DA 17-70 run as DA *, because the 50 mm at the long end are me often "too short". And just at suboptimal weather conditions then I will not really change lens ...
In my opinion, renders the DA * 16-50 his best achievements in the field zwichen aperture 4 and 8, but the range of 8.2 to 5.3 as a "reserve" for schelchte light conditions I fnde not impractical.
Especially with aperture values to the 8 it also resolves outstanding and can feed them with detailed image information serving nearly 14 MP sensor of the K20D.
Fehlfokus was not observed in my copy, the problem is likely Pentax now have to get a grip. The autofocus is emotionally not much faster than the rod AF of 17-70, for me is the advantage of the ultrasonic actuator primarily silent focusing.
All in all I'm happy with my choice, the full 5 points are therefore not, because the lens is in my opinion is not fully offenblendtautlich and the AF drive even a bit could be faster (see, eg. As Olympus Zuiko 12-60 ).
