I have the new Tamron lens seen as a long-time Canon photographer (travel Nature photographer) randomly about 3 weeks prior to 150-600 mm from a dealer with us near and immediately took it home with them, as it in this time neither at Amazon yet to get from another dealer in Germany was (all long wait ..). Since I know the dealer for many years, I can agree with the dealer to test the lens for 1-2 days and if I with the images should not be content to return the lens again. Caveat: I have worked over the years with almost all original Canon telephoto lenses, Series L, fixed and zoom lenses (except for the very expensive Canon 4,0 / 200-400 L and am also very good and was driven and 'm very happy today. both in terms of the high level of optical imaging performance, as well as in terms of the mechanical quality of Canon lenses. Now to the Tamron 150-600: my decision for the lens was once the relatively low weight, long focal length to 600mm (for animal photography especially important) and of course the attractive price performance ratio. I have since the lens (with UV filter 95 mm B + W, purchased from Amazon) repeatedly and extensively in the great outdoors (bird photography) and the wildlife park (mammals) and also at statschen motifs mainly mirt Canon 7D (factor 1, 6) and also partly can (with monopod and tripod-3) test and experiment with Canon 5D MK III, also in comparison to the Canon 100-400 L. I want to preface this, however, that both the Canon 100-400 and the 150-600 by Tamron in comparison with a fixed focal length telephoto lens from Canon is a compromise, because it can never reach the high level of Canon prime lenses. In addition, not all pictures are in such a test shooting outdoors naturally top, because it depends on many other factors, such as light, Motif, etc. This applies to all lenses. My conclusion: I keep diesesTamron lens and it is not returned to the dealer. The optical performance (the main criterion for me): Provided it prevails reasonably good light, you can 100-400 (dimmed somewhat between Aperture 7.3 to 11) with this lens with ASA achieve very good pictures, sharpness contrast and color reproduction of the lens are very good, of course, depending on the subject. Compared to the Canon 100-400 I visually and subjectively no major differences determine können.Vielleicht is the contrast range with Canon and some special motives a little better. The processing, mechanical quality, the handling of the lens is also very good. The Image Stabilizer (with monopod) is also very good. Autofocus mostly works perfectly, of course, depending on the subject, this is also true for the Canon lenses and for the lenses from other renowned manufacturers. This is my subjective judgment for the Tamron 150-600 Lens, ie very good and highly recommended! I have deliberately avoided the usual technical Erbsenzähler land, curves, figures, etc .. in that case. The end result, ie the captured image, pure, from the camera men's loaded (both JPG and RAW format) to consider and on my screen was for me personally this crucial (without image processing afterwards).
