The LG E460 Optimus L5 II comes in a small box on packaged well. The set consists of the phone, battery, USB-AC adapter (which can also be used for other devices is), USB cable, a quick start guide and quite happily with !! Earbuds, so can music and especially the radio (the fourth contact of the plug is the antenna) are equal tried.
The manual:
Since the E460 actually represents the (highest) in the entry-level smartphone world, the newcomer can not avoid to download the detailed operating under lg.com as PDF and print (80 pages). The accompanying "Quick Start Guide" is intended entirely useless and really only for the first start-up.
Very clear and easy to read, however, is the detailed PDF instructions, here and there, but could be explained well-founded, because not everyone is familiar with the technical language of Smarten.
The first start-up:
Visually could pounce a bit more the case. Unfortunately, today is rarely metal use and so is behind even here only a thin plastic cup that is held by small plastic hooks.
This is carefully taken off under cracking noises with his fingernails and then pressed again. How often it works out remains to be seen, because each SIM or SD card is inserted, this procedure requires.
As SIM fortunately comes the big conventional SIM used. For each cost provider be used at the discount immediately.
A small wrist strap or a trailer can not be attached, unfortunately missing the mount (I like this, because the cell phone then easily pulled from his pocket and sometimes can be kept safe)
After initial start an understandable Installation Manager performs quickly and easily through the menu. Watching one has but in the beginning, carefully LG / Google has already checked two fields for data gathering. So, at first remove hooks.
Very nice, I find that the mobile Internet is turned off at the factory. This I have experienced already expensive otherwise.
Wi-Fi can also be set later. All very simple. Enter the wireless code and it is going well.
For the beginner: Internet Services, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS easily (as with others) are switched on and off with virtual switches. When E460 this is done very quickly via a swipe from the top that opens a menu.
The battery ...
is summoned and so the LG E460 is immediately usable. The bad habit, batteries no longer be able to change itself, LG does not follow the E460 fortunately. The fairly large battery is easily replaceable.
The charging time is long 3 hours at 38% discharge.
Standby without WLAN, etc. is the LG E460 about 5-6 days. With Wi-Fi, Internet, GPS has ever possibly after application. Are loaded daily. Not only felt the power consumption is quite high, because playing around you can see how the battery empties.
Bluetooth alone! (Handsfree in the car) do if not using the phone, but hardly noticeable.
The full capacity of the battery reached only after several complete charge and discharge cycles.
The display ...
is very brilliant, bright and sharp for this price range. Photos are displayed smoothly. The comparatively small display pixel number is enough for the display size (diagonal 4 inches / 10cm).
Use in the sun is excellent here, the display offers much brightness reserves (but then also with a lot of power consumption). So suitable for the beach.
The sensitivity of the display could sometimes be better, although there is no misinterpretation at the touch, but sometimes it does not address immediately.
Using your fingers, it can be quite well served (the alphabetic fields could be a bit bigger for me so cross holding).
The Use:
Phone calls, Internet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi function optimally. NFC (Near Field Communication therefore to German Near Field Communication) is also available. NFC is used for example to pay for Busfahrscheinen or at discount stores, but also to spy your business visits, so turn off when it is not needed.
Very good and pleasant I find the home button (to Apple pattern). This button snaps felt, has a LED-illuminated edge, indicating that charge, calls and SMS. Left and right of each is still a sensor key for Back and Menu.
The 5 MP camera makes when it is bright enough, good usable photos. At dusk or inside a LED "flash" switches, which then does not generate any optimum, but appropriate photos. A front camera for Skype does not exist (this I do not miss too).
It is very nice that included headphones. The ear plugs are needed as an antenna for the radio and then the radio works great. The sound of the MP3 player is good.
About speaker the sound is sometimes just as a pinch.
Handsfree also works, when telephoning the sound of the speaker, however gruesome.
Very good work the GPS. With maps that are loaded, it is also used offline.
OS is Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), perfectly adequate and working properly.
The processor could be a little faster. For all standard applications, it is sufficient, only it takes a second or two to an application going places.
SMS can be entered also spoken. But this end is an Internet connection necessary. Google then translates the spoken words into text, but must be mostly overhauled. Precise work currently still Siri from Apple. When I see how quickly my daughter an SMS writes, has at least they have not missed this service. But what bothers me here is that Google knows so well all my SMSs.
Theft security:
Tons of smartphones are stolen. So one has to ask why not just allow smartphone manufacturers the security prompt. With my old Nokia I could enter a lock code, which will be queried if a different SIM card is inserted and makes the phone unusable if this is not known. A rogue who is now angry about the smart manufacturer thinks ...
Conclusion:
An excellent, easy to use smartphone with a very good equipment. Interestingly, the LG E460 want for those who did not one of the "huge" mobile phones, one can almost say tablets use. The size is the same as the Sony Xperia miro, the display but slightly larger.
Especially for small hands I find it ideal for my 13-year-old daughter also served this phone safe and reliable.
A screen protector is in my view not necessary because even the back not just insensitive. A bag is certainly useful.
Cautiously should be in the rain. In the housing are located at the side some "holes" that can easily let in moisture.
