Into the Black (Odyssey One) (Paperback)

Customer Review

The novel takes place in the not too distant future. Earth has survived the 3rd World War without the use of nuclear weapons, and face each other two major power blocs:

The NAC (North American Conförderation: Mexico, Canada and the USA) and the "Eastern bloc" consisting of China, parts of Russia, Korea and India.

Shortly after the end of the NAC Odyssey is put into service. Captain Eric Weston, formerly leader of the Archangels, an elite squadron of NAC is entrusted with the command of the Odyssey. He is responsible for the maiden flight of the Odyssey, which is the first spaceship on a Hyper light drive.

When you leave the Sol system that is first used, and Weston and his crew discover that this works, but not necessarily pleasant side effects. In addition, she suddenly received a SOS signal.

So begins the first fruits "Into the Black: Odyssey One" by Evan Currie, to be published in late March in 47NORTH.

The author can fall directly into the action the reader. The novel develops through his turns into a real page-turner. One can not just him put aside. "Into the Black: Odyssey One" ht everything you could wish for from a great SF novel. Excitement, fun, fast-paced action and extraterrestrials.

Conclusion: If you like Space-Opera and Military SF, with: gutbedient "Into The Black Odyssey One". I would place him somewhere between qualitative Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet" series and the Honor Harrington series of Weber.
