A humorous thriller, much in the tradition of Chester Himes ("The queen of apples"), where victims and killers play cat and mouse. The action takes place in the Everglades, this swampy part of Florida where once reigned wilderness, before the arrival of pesticides and retired billionaires. Charles ("Chaz") Perrone, supposedly doctor in biology, works to protect the Everglades (at least what remains of it) by taking water samples for determination of phosphates and pesticides from agriculture. He rounded his income by being handsomely reward by a wealthy landowner who sprinkles plenty of chemicals banned its huge agricultural land located on the edge of the reserve. In exchange, Chaz must of course falsify test results. This sad character, believing his wife discovered his wrongdoing, will not hesitate to throw overboard during a cruise. This is the starting point of a chase disheveled, on land and sea, with characters who are not afraid of ridicule, but stupidity proves very dangerous.
