The sound on the debut is drier than on the later albums, less luxurious, austere, but also less cluttered. Corey here sounds more "human" than in Iowa or Subliminal.
For many fans, this is already the definitive Slipknot album: It's not so profoundly hateful as Iowa, not as cuddly as All Hope Is Gone, but it shows all the sides of the band in balance. In addition, here is a Metal-hit for eternity on it: "Wait And Bleed".
Of course, there is evidence of, say, a large marketing awareness, the fans, and to rotate the same disc again ten years later. On the other hand, can be found here real value for money: remixes and demos as well as a pretty interesting documentary on DVD (of course, turned from the Lord Clown) as a bonus.
