Panasonic DMR-ES 35 VEG-S VHS / DVD recorder Silver (Electronics)

Customer Review

Carefully out of the ground because the Vorrezensenten problems talking after several months use. I got my unit for a week now, which is a much shorter period.

Nevertheless, my experience I can describe so times ...

So.

First of all, I would like to address a point of criticism, which has already been described in a Vorrezension - and the noise, this high sums, that sounds very suspicious for some.

Because I can now but hopefully a little reassuring to intervene, because this buzz is an "old Symptoms" Panasonic VCRs. Namely've had a Panasonic HiFi VCR before buying the DMR-ES 35 and has also had this buzz. To clarify everything now - the hum occurs only as long as a VHS cassette in the recorder is and as long as the VHS has not switched part even in the standby mode. So - the buzz at the VHS / DVD player is available, but if I take the VHS cassette from the recorder, everything is so quiet as in an Italian Cistercian monastery after 2 clock at night.
Where I also tantamount to 2nd point. Had before this unit a DVD / VHS recorder JVC, which was comparable to that of the technical side. Only this device had the peculiarity in the DVD recording and then turn on the active fan. This was audible in fact. So if you do not put the TV sound louder or herself made her do not get ready by fans sound that was a real gripe.

In this Panasonic device me is the bisdato not noticed. Neither the normal DVD recording of the set-top box still when I copy two hours VHS material directly to DVD. No whirring, no humming - and as I said, as soon as no more VHS tape is in the player is also not hear more whirring.

But now I will once again make everything a little more compact and give my Observed here:

+ (Positive things):

- The players really swallows everything. I mean here the different disc formats, + And - blanks in normal and RW, DVD-RAM discs are anyway not a problem. Only a support for double layer discs, I would have still desired. But no matter. I take my movies on RW, burn it, edit it to your PC and burn it then possibly also "refined" really on DL discs.

- The printed manual is great written, not too complicated and have been well understood for me (what I wanted, so I have immediately found in the instructions - within 20 minutes I have anyway to copy my first old VHS tape to DVD started). I am pleased if a manufacturer's not just responding to the most important functions, but almost every detail depicts exactly. Exemplary in this day and age and given the current functions in my eyes.

- The control menus are very clear and relatively well organized (no comparison with the old JVC), also notice that they respond quickly during operation.

- VHSDVD copies really perfectly - in post on the PC (in frames) is striking that the copies have become really great (what color fidelity, details and compression concerns); clear miracle one must not expect in the image enhancement, but the humble VHS quality is preserved without difficulty and without further losses on DVD.

- The remote control is really great. Although the keys were quietly can be positioned even better, but the buttons or the remote control themselves have a nice quality. So you really hold something "solid" in his hand.

- The device has a DV-in connection, which was for me with an important purchase reason. My camcorder has harmonises immediately with the device - was immediately recognized and the picture quality is just great. The recording on DVD has funktoniert bluntly. Real great plug and play so - cable pure camcorder is detected, machine will ask you whether to record automatically and go on with great joy :)

- Panasonic has incorporated a preview function in organizing the recorded material. Although I now know not whether this function is installed as standard anyway everywhere, but me she really liked. DVD Navigator open - there then, similar to a DVD scene selection menu - each clip previewing and rearrange if necessary. Easy does it almost impossible.

- And what I also want to mention here: the DVD part of the player (ie picture quality, Tonquali etc.) shows no blemish on. Much more interesting is there already the VHS Part, but again I can compare to my old Panasonic device speak only in good tones. The picture quality is without mistake and the rewind speed is a dream (and please do not be nervous, though here the device - like in good old times VHS - a bit louder - that's part of just like that!)

Well - a review of course also has the purpose that the things are mentioned that shine in less good light. Since there's unfortunately in this unit one or the other thing that has to be necessarily mentioned.

- As already mentioned by prescribing, Panasonic has made a great Fopa, for that matter "finalizing" a disc. The engineers or software programmers namely "Finalisierungsoption" (ie that recorded discs also run on other players or the PC) simply renamed. They have proven to be a very unfavorable hands because this feature behind the menu item "Write DVD menu" (or similar) will be hidden. After this point has been selected and after the player has completed its work, the message already appears on the TV that the disc can now be played in any other player. For people who do not want to look far for a function, that is fatal. And therefore also the problems that have been previously described further below in the other reviews.

- Second gripe is the reading time of the device. Until the player is turned on until the disc was read and to begin recording, can ever pass 20 to 30 seconds. Although this is apparently normal in this class (and in the formats that swallows the Panasonic), yet somewhat risky if you quickly and spontaneously what will take time aus'm television.
For DVD-RAM is the problem not exist (as heck even after a second already be possible to take a little), but I have not been able to try ...

Finally, my conclusion tolerable criticism, which is a real shame. And you go to the scart box from the receiver to the DVD recorder. The accepted my knowledge namely no RGB signal, but only a herkömliches Composite or S-Video signal. The latter would indeed image quality standard totally fit, but my set-top box can not output this signal. So I have to resign myself to the old composite signal, which is not necessarily bad, but it just brings a small, noticeable loss of quality with it.

So, that's it with the review. The 4 stars are as I said with caution. If my players "spin" in the coming months begin, I will stick to this review back and write it to, but the player is bisdato been real a great investment.

Review update of 14 October:
Have the players still - and he is still going totally perfectly. But what I wanted to mention is that the player mechanism under certain circumstances can be quite noisy when playing discs that are poorly balanced (ie labels are wrong on it or in general, if the disc is not 100% runs "true"). Was there a DVD purchase, although it has played without quirks of the player, but the noise from the drive were not exactly inspire confidence. Finally, I have also tried the said disc in my old Grundig DVD player and there were heard this unpleasant noise. So not a problem that the Panasonic alone.

Well. Anyway, I am now, after more than three months, still more than happy with my machine (and dismissed in the Pension VHS tapes rejoice as I :))
