With his own ensemble Artaserse Philippe Jaroussky has the present album of sacred music by Vivaldi recorded his third this composer dedicated solo CD. And the decision for this ensemble was excellent, because it gives the young countertenor the opportunity to realize in this recording his musicality free and still develop his own style. This becomes clear sounds especially in the central Stabat Mater, which has already been taken up by so many singers and here quite new and different. Incredibly clear and pure, but now in the low register clear round and become warmer (including in Cuius animam gementem heard) awakens Jarousskys soprano voice tinted this Stabat Mater to life. Most importantly, met the singer and conductor Jaroussky the composed music with meaning and significance. Fine thought he can act the Ensemble, the sovereign always solo violin as well as the pleasant noticeable throughout so intelligent and subtle lute accompaniment. Above all, it is even Jaroussky, who not only sings and interpreted as it stands, but it interprets by numerous passing notes, grace notes and trills and literally transcends the music. Here the meaning of the music is very clear by the diverse sounds of the singing voice, but even more by the interpretation that add the vocal ornamentation of music. Here Jaroussky changed the music boldly and creatively, dare more than most with Baroque church music, but always with unerring musicality and sense of style. This is truly away from the mechanical boredom, spreading some vain countertenors today unfortunately. In Jaroussky every detail of the music and its meaning is developed, and each time you listen you discover new charming details in the depths and subtleties of the music hidden. Also in the orchestral work and orchestral passages to Jaroussky shows as a sovereign so as sensitive ensemble director. Some may regret that this wonderful countertenor not all his time dedicated to the operatic repertoire, but for such a recording it is worth, and it will surely delight even every true lover of Baroque opera arias.
