UPDATE April 29, 2015: After a thoroughly update the firmware and software from Corsair end of April I have my review from 18.3. completely redesigned and upgraded from 3 stars to 4. More bottom to the counterpoints under "UPDATE".
Let's start now but at times:
Pro:
- Good processing: typing feel great, buttons trigger good
- Makes visually what her looks wertig
- Comes with wrist rest. Unfortunately, this is not at all keyboards even in the high price segment, of course, so for me a plus
- Software provides many features for customizing the illumination
- Media Keys available
Contraindications:
- Software required just by laymen that may be slightly training period to create profiles, as they quite complex (but positive: finished profiles of other users of the Corsair Forum One can easily download)
- Keyboard comes without connectors for USB or headset
- No macro keys on the K70 model
- With complex lighting effects flickering the lights, if one is in 16.8 million colors mode (who manages with 512 colors can deactivate this and the flicker disappears)
- Competition awaits some with more powerful lighting on
UPDATE:
The problems that I have criticized in my review in March, Corsair has finally fixed by software and firmware updates. The keyboard now works smoothly with Steam without crashing or have them freeze Steam. Furthermore, they will no longer also delays the boot process, when the keyboard is connected.
Corsair has finally resupplied the promised and advertised large 16.8 million color spectrum, but you have here in flickering elaborate lighting effects accepted. However, one can switch at any time from 16.8 million colors mode to the "old" 512-color mode, which although less liquid is the color change in some effects, but without flicker. Corsair has this been expressed and announced that one had to take into account the flicker of 16.8 million colors, since eliminating the flicker would have an increased response time of the keyboard results in one so it does not resolve (to) be. Too bad, but good.
Conclusion:
I admit the keyboard conclusively 4 stars. The K70 RGB is for large revision of the software now definitely a solid gamer keyboard that does not need to hide. Big plus here is the good, quality workmanship of the K70. The lighting is beautiful to look at and now works properly without freezing, however, could be a little brighter compared to the competition and flickers sometimes quite well perceived in more complex lighting effects, unless you are traveling with 16.8 million colors. Whether this is acceptable for individuals, everyone must decide for themselves.
I recommend, if possible, even try out the keyboard and to watch videos of the lighting effects. I personally think the K70 has been mechanical RGB keyboards in spite of their mistakes for me the best currently handle in the field. However, if such a powerful lighting wants, which should perhaps rather look at the chroma Razer BlackWidow more detail.
