Shortly:
Pros:
- Highly resistant to the tomato blight
- Profitable
- Good taste
- Problems in the field cultivable
- SEEDS FEST (The seeds mature tomatoes are here thus identical to the acquired seed in opp to "one-seed" of hybrid varieties "F1"..)
Cons:
- The somewhat high price for a few seeds, but because you can win seeds from the tomato itself is the '' breeder / distributor 'means here a higher price range certainly.
Explanations for those interested, see also the comment:
The above variety comes from a free-tomato project Göttingen University which develops methods of ecological breeding and new seeds resistant varieties since 2003 in wider cooperation. The project was based on about 3,500 tomato varieties, the best were selected for culturing. (More from this project emerged varieties besides "Primavera" and "Prima Bella" even "Ida Gold" and "Sting").
Initially I have two of these four varieties planted next to some other because of their seeds strength because I do not want to get used to hybrid varieties, which are themselves further can not reproduce and thus ultimately remains dependent on the seed producers, so he they still retain in the program. In addition, those bred for acquiring growing varieties often have the disadvantage that they are almost ready to harvest at the same time and are relatively maintenance-intensive. Both properties are for the hobby gardener disadvantageous.
The benefits of strong Braunfäuletoleranz showed us then, however, very much in the summer 2014th
The Primavera we now owe along with the variety Primabella that we after the brown rot within a few days the tomatoes consisted largely wiped out in summer / autumn 2014, even still could harvest their own tomatoes. The above two varieties successfully defied the fungus.
While the above were 2 varieties also at the contact zone to the "dying" neighboring towns (eg Black Cherry, Black from Crimea, zebras, Orange Russian etc.) certain optical Braunfäuleanzeichen, but the blight could not spread in these plants.
After a few weitereren wet humid days it became apparent that these two varieties wanted to capitulate to our surprise not so easy before the blight we removed the dead neighboring villages and the few marginal instincts which something
looked taken. Yes, I know - that you should actually do everything in a timely manner ;-)
The harvest time window was there quite long and as we then to late autumn were allowed to harvest tomatoes of the "survivors" has convinced us this entirely from the varieties Primavera and Primabella.
2015 above varieties now enable next few naturally braunfäuleresistente wild tomato varieties (currant tomato, Matts`s Wild Cherry, Golden Currant, Red Robin) a rich tomato crop, in spite of brown rot in the ground, which are known to still can take a while viable.
In the above seed varieties I am by the action Bantam (just in a search engine "Bantam" enter - see Batam corn -> seed feast seed) became aware and they have purchased inexpensively from one of the sources listed there.
