We understand better the attitude of De Gaulle to the Americans, during and especially after the war. Through a simple yet detailed style, with passion we saw the power of the general will which will finally manage to win against such formidable allies that the common enemy. Kersaudy plunges us into the dark side of history and makes us discover objectively the springs which animated the political and diplomatic action of the USA with regard to France and the French. My only regret is that Kersaudy evoke the diplomatic relations at the expense of military action. In many ways this book is cleaner because we discover that history has been strongly influenced by the prejudices of men.
