Among the highlights only briefly (the one reads everywhere): Best picture quality for m4 / 3, integrated "5 axes" Image Stabilizer, very fast autofocus, splashproof, top service, very compact for the functional, integrated electronic viewfinder, about adapters a variety of lenses of other systems available (though often manual focus)
To use: At the beginning I had to get used to something the camera. Previously I had the pen 2 and despite quite the same extent I had the E-M5 remains very small. This is due to the many direct adjustment. After a few days I have to say though that I do not like to go back to the pen. The controls are very great - especially the two knobs and the two function keys at the top.. Only the play and FN key at the back is a bit small, but not so that it interferes seriously (to the boundary conditions: I have rather large hands and looking with your right eye through the viewfinder - some say for the left-Äuger would be the Camera not as convenient).
For electronic viewfinder: The is an absolute must for me. Unlike the Pana-seekers can I find the Olympus-seekers much better (despite the same on paper specification): this is because, as the colors are represented (at the same time vs. succession). Also you have a large bright viewfinder image - greater than that of all entry-level DSLR. Whether one is now an optical viewfinder (DSLR) or electronic preferable sure taste. I prefer to see the picture as it afterwards aussicher (eg white balance) and that I automatically receive an increase in manual Fokusssieren, which goes very well. In any case in the viewfinder
For image quality: in Verlgeich to Pen2 a significant improvement in dynamic range and noise. I like to take pictures indoors and without Flashes with fast lenses and there you can already see the difference well. According to reputable testing the OM-D current APS-C DSLR is now equal. I would recommend to ISO 1600 noise reduction off (is so almost no noise and no disturbance of the noise filter), from 3200, I use noise reduction "standard". 3200 is still very usable (for ISO Auto I limit to 1600, which indeed usually anyway quite sufficient)
Autofocus: lie to PEN2 worlds (coming but a little on the lens to). The focus is detected very quickly and accurately. In C-AF (continuous AF) are mirrorless cameras inferior mM a SLR system-related, but the OM-D suggests quite well (I said eh hardly use)
Objective: (Note: for Convert to small picture focal length by 2, Canon / Nikon is the factor 1.6)
- The kit lens is OK (is just a kit lens). I've ordered wg. Splash protection, macro function and because it is something wide angle than what I had before. I think it's the ideal lens for ski :-)
Otherwise, my recommendations:
- Olympus 45mm f1.8: mM the best (affordable) lens for m4 / 3 System. Ideal for portraits (but not only) and very bright. Very nice, shallow depth of field is possible. For Macro but it is not suitable
- Panasonic 20mm F1.7: top image quality, lichtstarkt and very compact. Unfortunately, the auto focus somewhat slow (but still quite good)
- Olympus 14-150mm 4.6-5.6: Ideal Universamobjektiv. At brightness and clarity it can with the other two lenses do not compete naturally, but the large zoom range covers almost everything you need and I find the images for zooming very balanced.
Compared to Panasonic: Panasonic lacks the in-body image stabilization. Thus, the Olympus lenses are there no stabilizer. Moreover, I find the colors at Olympus nice (I use JPEG + RAW always, but usually I keep the JPEG, RAW is only the last resort to get more out of an image). Speaking of RAW: very beautiful at Olympus, that a RAW program for free gets the viewer - something similar offers mM no other supplier. The nice thing, d ass to get there, the settings will just like in the camera - so needed no great incorporation (but a fast computer)
Generally to Micro 4/3 vs. DSLR a la Canon / Nikon: For me, the current SLR cameras no longer be eligible because they are simply much larger with the same image quality. This leads me to the fact that I always ask myself, if I take the camera - since the pen (and now OM-D) which is no longer a question. Zuminest with pancake lens that goes forever. In addition, the big cameras are a bit intimidating and this is reflected in the images. Even to get to some concerts with a pen still pure - with a comparable Nikon certainly not.
PS: If you do not believe that you can make high-quality images with m4 / 3: there are now enough professional photographers who use the camera. One of the main problems is that outsourcers they take with such a small camera for full ;-) Nett I found representative this blog entry: [...]
Otherwise, I would again refer to dpreview.com - mM the most serious source of photo-tests. They have the E-M5 gestet ausgibig and found to be excellent
