About me:
Just under 25 years old - Student - interested in technology. Main genres: RPG & Action Games
What I hoped for from the Wii U:
To play an inexpensive console to some exclusive titles. Including multiplayer titles like Mario Kart, Mario Party and SmashBros.
_____________
The Wii U itself is a really good console. I paid for the Act of Cluster Console 186 and the games are really cheap compared to the competition. However, I must say that the Wii U would not have been as full-price bracket (300-350) for me, because the whole concept of what the Wii U has a unique feature is nothing for me.
Biggest negative points:
- No real third-party support (barely Games of Third Party Developers)
- No LAN connection (for me a no-go)
- No DolbyDigital- or DTS-Standard (very bad)
- The gamepad at all does not speak to me (I use the Pro Controller, which is really well done)
- There is no bundle without this gamepad and a "normal" Pro Controller
- The console interface is me personally too cheesy (a matter of taste)
- The console is in the store of "things" (system startup, you quit playing, load languages, Inheritance of Settings) rather at head height with the LastGen (PS3 / 360) -> felt long load times
- External, bulky power supply
In my eyes biggest positive points:
- Exclusive titles have a kind unique selling point and are often high-profile
- Small space of the console
- Low energy consumption (35 watts under "full load")
- Games are inexpensive
- For many "the console" game nights ""
The list of the individual points already shows that the Wii U in my eyes has more disadvantages than advantages. However, she does for me what they want.
Still, Nintendo needs time to think about how they can appeal to the masses again at the successor console. For 300-350 I would never buy this console.
