Burmese Days (Penguin Modern Classics) (Paperback)

Customer Review

Although I have not yet read all of Orwell, but already a lot. Burmese Days is the book with which I could make friends at least. The description of the social conditions in the English colony are indeed without any doubt interesting, the story itself can convince but only slightly. The characters all act just a little anemic, one can identify neither with them nor truly understand their actions, or it is simply a matter.

In short, the book know my humble opinion simply literary weaknesses. The same can indeed be said of Down and Out in Paris and London, but for some reason they do not act as disturbing there. A much gelungere story from this time in my opinion is the short story Shooting an Elephant.
