And so joins "The Final Frontier" musical in the series of albums for the Dickinson Reunion, but in the front half. "Brave New World" has given me even more like an idea, but before "Dance Of Death" or "AMOLAD" the new disc does in no way to hide. The production I find solid, if not outstanding. Sometimes it sounds a little mushy, but if we take time, however Metallica's "Death Magnetic", we should not complain.
The songs go with me into my ear faster than its predecessor and with "When The Wild Wind Blows" is in my opinion one of the best songs of the post-Blaze-era on the plate. Long, varied and with Bruce's best vocal performance on the album.
Apart from this song are joined in my opinion "Star Blind" and the title track on the podium. Sure, the intro is modest to say the least, but "The Final Frontier" in itself is a great song with cool chorus. Why Steve Harris has the intro, if you have it already reinbringen necessarily, not packaged as a separate track on's album, mankind will never know unless Galileo Mystery takes care of the matter. But such a slip can I forgive, where you can adjust with modern MP3 programs but, from what point a title to be played. So, forget it!
"Coming Home" stands out slightly from the album, because it requires no great frills and inevitably reminded of "Wasting Love", which at that time I was already very horny. An absolute highlight!
With "The Talisman", "The Alchemist", "The Man Who Would Be King" and "El Dorado" further something faster numbers are in addition to the title song while four. The latter may have been known prior to album release as a free download from the Maiden website most already. Catchy choruses, verses driving. Especially "The Talisman" and "The Alchemist" to convince typical Maiden attributes. Some will certainly create their way into the live setlist. Almost as before ... These songs are in my opinion the decisive advantage over "AMOLAD" where fast or were midtempo numbers for my taste sown to scarce.
"Isle Of Avalon" is the "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" anno 2010, which is not a criticism. Spread a similar horny mood as the original time on the "Powerslave" or even better, the live version on the "Live After Death". Strong song!
Ultimately, I am afraid to even mention "Mother Of Mercy" negative. Has executed claps something unkind to me. In addition, one has to admit that the tone is simply too high for Bruce. The only weak point on this album.
In conclusion remains to say that "The Final Frontier" should not put away after the first round, if it has a non-pledged directly. I, as many speakers also, several passages used to let me ultimately still convincing. If you arrived at this point, but you can say with complete justification that the board has become a dignified Maiden album.
Why not 5 stars? The boys are still have increasing opportunities for the (hopefully) next record!
In this sense,
UP THE IRONS !!!
