Since the dawn of the digital camera era I have stehts gained the latest compact camera models (various Casio Exilim). Finally, the EX-Z1000 with 10 megapixels. Yet here I was disappointed, as has been done technically up to the number of pixels as good as nothing to the previous models, especially excited me here that just over half of all images were still shaky.
The only question was: here is really worth more than half to pay more for an SLR? Since I have taken this step today, and the EOS 400D can call my own, I can say: Yes! And how!
I'm really in love with this camera! With the fully automatic to me so far is no longer blurred image below come to realize no noise in the images. The autofocus is top and super fast! The intergrated lightning lit from natural and is very battery friendly. The photos themselves see at once all highly professional from! My subjective impression is that there can be absolutely no comparison to compact cameras here, down to the size exceeds the EOS 400D is a 10 MP compact camera in all respects! Many professionals stir even on that the 400D for a SLR would be too small, I think it has just the right size and is very comfortable to wear.
What I previously did not know, and I noticed immediately: with the included lens are also macro shots ala compact camera is no problem!
Furthermore, you can even control the EOS 400D with the software on the PC, a separate remote control is here no longer necessary (perhaps interesting for astro images with the telescope).
As a memory card I would recommend the SanDisk Extreme III 2GB CF. With this you can make more than 100 shots in RAW format in JPG format best on 400th
So for all the superior: Compact or SLR? Saves prefer a little longer. I'll never take anything else into their own hands as SLR! The EOS 400D is the hammer!
