As someone who has his entire youth passionate heard Genesis and, although rare, still can with pleasure, it is a horror to me this "work" .I am not a supporter of the "Gabriel" or the "Collins" era .The "Gabriel-time" was awesome from "Trespass" and the "Collins-time" has spawned in a different way as excellent music. Here you have, however, so go in too shallow, concern and emotionless fairway that it hurts. It hurts all the more because you know what the band actually can. Since you obviously wanted to force it into the charts and on the radio under the leadership of Collins, it was necessary to remove any complexity, every claim from the songwriting, which has indeed worked. The sales figures and the charts gave them quite a lot and Radio Pop listeners liked the well, ok. Nevertheless, it is intolerable for a connoisseur of ancient art-rock troupe this time, to see / hear how they are flattened. I would have liked that they had brought out between these pop albums at least once ne EP with good music, has rocked for fans of Genesis-time when their music still carried away and could cause strong emotions. Recording and mixing to the demands of music fit, everything trimmed in radio, sterile, with no dynamics. The 83er album was later from Nick Davis / Tony Cousins remixed / remastered (also available on SACD, disappointing even this), and next to it, sorry.
