Measurements:
Since the description of the XCsource by poor translation and wiedersprüchliche information shines, I start with the dimensions.
Height fully extended: 139 cm (on the legs account for 90 cm, the center column is max 49 cm high.)
Minimum height (with legs): 34.5 cm
Monopod: min. 37 cm (leg + head), max. 141 cm (leg + center column + head)
Pack size: 36 cm high, 10 cm wide
For comparison, the AmazonBasics:
Height fully extended: 134.5 cm (on the legs account for 92 cm, the center column is max 42.5 cm high.)
Minimum height (with legs): 30 cm
Pack size: 31 cm high, 8.5 cm wide
Appearance:
The XCsource looks with golden elements and the sponge rubber sheath at first glance quite high and "professional" from. Look a bit closer, but fall on the plastic clips and the plastic screw rings on the legs. These have then been (optical) no longer so high. Of course you can not expect at this price what else, but that there is another better, shows the Amazon travel tripod. Even the Chinese company logo is displayed prominently on tripod head and carrying case. I do not mind that, but you can see just now that the tripod is not from a "reputable" manufacturers. (Although I would bet that there is the same stand with the logo of a brand manufacturer for twice the price).
The AmazonBasics tripod looks, however, more "elegant" than "professional" from. It is visually kept quite minimalist and silver rotary rings on the legs form a contrast to the gray bars. All items that can be rotated by hand, are rubberized here. This has much higher quality than the pure plastic of XCsource.
Stand / stability:
Both stands are sufficiently stable, considering that they are travel tripods. The Amazon is a bit more delicate, since it has 5 leg elements and thereby the bottom tube is very thin. The XCsource has 4 leg elements and therefore the pipes are slightly thicker.
The Amazon is a little more flexible can be opened, as it has 3 stages in the leg-latching. The XCsource has 2 stages. The only means, however, that the XCsource between "normal" position and ground-formation has no intermediate.
The rubber feet are flat and sloped at XCsource which means that it is well on firm, smooth ground. The Amazon has pointed rubber feet. Therefore, it is not so slip on slippery surfaces. On soft ground it but probably an advantage.
My XCsource has a little bit of play in the center column. If you jerks off (in tightening loose condition), she shakes a little. But when photographing this does not matter
Tripod Head:
Unlike similar stands the XCsource has a relatively simple ball head. A rotary lever solves or simultaneously closes the ball and the rotation of the entire head around its own axis. That's it.
The Amazon a rotary knob for the ball and for the rotation around its own axis. This (and by the degree display) panoramas are easily possible. That's not the XCsource because here the head can not turn without releasing the ball with. In both stands, the head can be replaced, however, one can also buy another, if you want more features.
At Amazon, the ball is a bit to move more smoothly. Both hold the camera but certainly in any position. In the absence scale can I say nothing to the weight of my camera, but I've tried it with a rather small SLR and a 18-200mm lens.
The XCsource has a ArcaSwiss-compatible quick release. Since I have no means of comparison, but I can not say with 100% certainty, but if not there is a certain incompatibility caused by some other dimensions in this "China-product". The Amazon has a similar release plate, but is (without minor modifications) ArcaSwiss not compatible.
Features:
With Amazon you can basically besides the normal tripod function "only" take panoramas (through the special ball joint) and (by turning the central column) shooting pictures upside down or from particular perspectives.
The XCsource is (as already mentioned) is not suitable for panoramas, but can just turn around the center column.
The great feature of the XCsource: The integrated monopod! You can unscrew one leg and attach it the center column including head ... and you have a monopod! I've never used a Monpod or the urgent desire for a feel, but for a travel tripod is something very handy if you want to build a tripod times anywhere / can.
Accessories:
AmazonBasics: detailed instructions, Imbusschlussel to Re-tightening, Carrying Case
XCsource: a rather sparse manual, Allen wrench, Trageköscher and a holster for the tripod. The holster is also as an ingenious detail ... attached to the belt you can attach to a folded the tripod to another can be "put into" the monopod. This one has a slightly steady-cam-like effect and can do pretty quiet pans and movements of the hand when shooting.
Conclusion:
The AmazonBasics travel tripod is worth it in any case: it really is processed incredibly compact and well. The 2-in-1 Tripod and monopod of XCsource then has convinced me. It is from a processing perspective a bit 'cheaper' and the spherical head loses clearly a direct comparison with the Amazon, but I think in the end, the decision depend on what you put more value: a (for the price) very good ball head and good handling [> AmazonBasics] or Multifuktionalität and thoughtful details [> XCsource].
Because you just can not have everything at this price, I will give the tripod 4 stars. If me notice any positive or negative after the first real stakes of the stand, I will add it here.
