Consider the following scenario before purchase of 546E: DSL connection on the first floor, in the living room on the ground floor, the home theater with those AVR 3313 receiver, DBT 1713 Bluray and T-Entertain media receiver. Because the living room was only reachable Powerline, I had a 500E powerline adapters for the home theater installation, installed a 4-port switch with power supply unit and an Apple Airport Express as a second hotspot. Disadvantage: three additional power consumers, a bunch of cables and Christmas tree-like behind the center speaker illumination through the whole lamp.
The configuration of the 546E I took the computer from above, coupled him with the 500e, which is inserted close to the Fritz box. The installation took less than 10 minutes.
For the past two months I use the 546E. The operation is easy, no heat generation at the outlet, with a simulated power failure no problems with the reboot. I am glad that I was able to save the 500e, Airport Express and Switch. Because the 546E depends now on a LAN port of the AV receiver for the radio, on the other LAN port depends of the T-Entertain-receiver and with the 546E I create the hotspot for guests. The range is perfect.
The current sensing and switching function I have not yet used. I also wonder even if I hang all consumers on a power strip on the 546E to save through the central switching on and off of power in standby. According to AVM, the AVM can withstand a load of around 2.2 kilowatts. My amp has a maximum output of 7x165 watts, the TV needs 400 watts, of the total burden would that. I would then turn off the Media Receiver automatically with, I have refrained. Then I could no longer use the programming function on the Media Receiver from the road.
I have checked with AVM, whether there will be a "little brother" of the 546E, the no hotspot feature, but also has two LAN ports. If I have understood correctly, is there anything at CeBIT. That takes me too long, so I buy now a 546E.
Addendum: I have to correct myself, there were now less than two months and I felt for a long time so that work. I was lucky and got one of the first device.
