The second generation played good from everything, however, had in many films a very annoying weakness with respect to the synchronization of picture and sound, at least for Tonausausgabe via optical fiber. Had the new Box no Lipsync, I would say goodbye to WD.
Everyday experiences to the current version:

WLAN functions HD movies look testweise with +/- 130 Mbit also very good, neither abortions nor compared to LAN ascertainable delays. This course is related to the quality of the signal.
Synology NAS as DLNA (standard profile) or network share. I opted for the latter variant, since about DLNA No images can be played back. Simply (if desired acquisition in media library with metadata from third-party write access) in an account for the WD NAS box with read permission for creating appropriate media folder and enable NFS service. WD-sided via button B -> Network Share -> Windows releases -> name of the NAS -> og Account Data -> checkmark to Remember. Now you can also DVD images including menu from the NAS stream.

The box offers a few more features. Of these, however, I only use YouTube via smartphone coupling and RSS feeds.
Tip: If you spend the tone of WD box via optical conductors and eg YouTube missed the sound, should remove the settings for digital loop through only via optical interface, the check mark in AAC and WMA Pro. After that, the box Restart (either by device -> System or the on / off and hold up, then back to the other device only in standby!
After the YouTube Terms I start the box again, because I feel that the app does not exit properly and unnecessarily slow performance (then the menu is really sluggish, the warmer box). That there were already in the 2nd Generation.
RSS feeds are best populating the computer via the web interface. Again, it has been shown, no factory reset after the firmware update was nothing here!
Besides the obligatory factory reset after a firmware update and a decent router, some basic knowledge can not hurt if things do not work out-of-the-box on computer network secure.
