Scope of supply:
===========
The microphone is delivered in a very noble, reusable carton. In it are also a windbreak, a practical storage bag, a manual (English) and a battery.
Technical data Explanation:
==========================
- Type: Condenser Microphone: A condenser microphone is more sensitive than a dynamic microphone, but requires a power supply.
- Frequency response: 30 Hz to 16 kHz: In the frequency diagram in the manual can be seen that the frequency response is quite linear, that all sounds are thus reproduced identically worded. Voice recordings outdoors even rework are therefore possibly necessary.
- Sensitivity: -44dB + 3dB relative to 1V / Pa: is rather an American statement and something unusual. Microphones are usually in the range -40 dB to - 60 dB, whereby, the higher the dB value, the more sensitive is the microphone.
- SPL SPL: 130dB: Does the principle of when the maximum sound pressure has been reached and distortions become too large. Here, based on 1% THD at 1kHz. By level attenuation of 10 dB, this value can be increased to virtually 140 dB. Because 140 dB is very noisy, it is here at a good value.
- Low Cut: 80Hz 10dB: This switchable filter to attenuate low frequencies, the impact is often disturbing. You know it when someone comes too close to the microphone and one hears this dull rumble or footfall sound forth. The 80 Hz are a good choice for standard situations, as this covers the usual troublemakers.
- Impedance: <= 200 ohms
- Recording Principle: XY means nothing else than that the microphones in one place, are added. That is also the reason why the stereo effect not really come across well. It would have to make 2 individual microphones apart.
- Polar pattern: Cardioid / Stereo, complicated written, but nothing different than wide cardioid, ie the directivity can be thought of as a wide cardioid. This is advantageous because you want as much as possible before and grasp the side of the camera indeed.
Design and processing:
====================
I think that Takstar SGC-698 is well finished look. It shows also that it is no lightweight, but are largely made of aluminum. It acts on the pictures here bigger than it actually is and I was more relieved after unpacking.
Commissioning and operation:
=========================
Since my camera only has a 2.5 mm jack, I had to have an adapter from 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm get. Thus, the operation was not a problem. The microphone fits perfectly to the hot shoe of my camera and also attaches reliably there thanks to the thumbscrew.
In addition to the gain reduction for low frequencies, there is also the possibility, generally 10 dB decrease the level or raise 20 dB, depending on whether the objects are very close in front of the camera or farther away.
Especially important for shots close to the sea was my windshield. This was a bit difficult to fasten on the first try, since it bears very closely. Once you have but that managed to wind noise is filtered out largely orderly. Better than it can most electronic Wind Filter.
As already wrote my previous speaker, the microphone produces a slight noise. But this is with most microphones in this price segment that. It falls to me not interfere and can subsequently easily removed in the course of video editing also.
Conclusion:
====
Those looking for a good and cheap microphone for camcorder or camera with video function, is well advised with this microphone. By Takstar SGC-698 you can better adapt to different shooting situations. Therefore, I would recommend it almost without restrictions.
