** Look and shape of the tabs **
You have to imagine these tabs as other sweetener tablets (eg those based on sodium cyclamate and saccharin sodium --- about 4mm in diameter, about 1.5mm thick)
** Donor **
At least I can about it so far not fault. The tabs can be metered by pressing a button on the can. Tabs do not jam.
** Dissolution behavior in coffee / tea **
Tabs dissolve relatively quickly and easily foaming at the surface (actually as I otherwise also know that of sweetener tablets).
** Dosing **
A piece I use a cup of coffee and get by with it - the sweetness content forth. (By not taste, but that is the next point.)
Of course, sweetening coffee / tea is a subjective thing. What I want to say only. In my estimation, corresponding to 1 Stevia tab = 1 tablet sweetener.
** Taste **
Far from being neutral. The coffee / tea is sweet but has a similar flavor, as I do not like him already with saccharin-based sweetener tablets. If other consumers of liquorice or any flavors speak: I can not empathize with that. It is a gruesomely-artificial flavor, I just do not know and can be hard to map. In short, the coffee / tea does not taste!
** What is inside? **
The website can be found at the moment the following information:
Isomalt, steviol glycosides / rebaudioside A (20%), Sodium carbonate, citrate.
At least I do not - if you have a little busy with "Stevia", one is thus still not smarter.
** How sweet as a tab? How many calories? **
Neither the one nor the other question, there is an answer, even a hint.
In my estimation, is the sweetening power of 1 tab correspond to a sugar cube.
** General chatter about Stevia **
Mir is the plant not only recently known. Since 2 years, I have in the summer a stevia plant in the garden and thus cover the demand for leaves that I need to sweeten tea. A Stevia leaf in a cup of tea is sufficient for the purpose. The sweetness feels different than sugar, but not chemically, not artificial. In this respect I can say well, that I know well Stevia. Anyone who has ever sucked on a stevia leaf or easily chewed, will know what I mean. The taste of the tabs does not have much to do with the original flavor "pure stevia leaves".
Most knowledge of the stevia plant, I gained the following book that me randomly has the seller in the health food store recently recommended. -> STEVIA - Sinfully sweet and urgesund (The alternative to sugar and sweeteners) (The book I can, as you can see my review there, recommend to all people who are interested in this new "miracle Cutie".)
** Current (02/2012) Facts about the approval of stevia as a food **
Steviol glycosides are approved as E 960 in the EU since December 2, 2011 as the food additives. (Source: wikipedia.de)
** One more thing to clarify the size and sweetness effect of Tabs **
If I had to explain to a child's why a tab that yes 300 is reportedly times sweeter than sugar, only a result like a sugar cube in coffee brings, like this:
Thus the extracts (in the case of these tabs are the manufacturer 25% Stevioglykoside) in consistency are use to us, they are gemix with any additives, so that a TAB comes out that is known from the previously common sweeteners-TABS already.
One has to even imagine figuratively: How could well be a tab, which is a three-hundredths of example a sugar cube size? A sugar cube weighs 3 grams. Then a piece of "Stevioside" would weigh 0.03 grams. Now try again at home on the kitchen scale to weigh a portion of salt by exactly 1 gram and then split into three parts. Then the dose is still 10% higher than desirable ...
Why do I use the tabs at the moment?
+/- Coffee: I halve a tab and give a little sugar to normal.
+ Pudding: Instead of 3 tablespoons of sugar I take 1 tab (crushed!) And 1 tablespoon sugar. Extends sufficiently for normal pudding preparation.
- Tea: 1 TAB to LITRE jug black tea (I like slightly sweetened), plus some lumps brown sugar candy. - The result rather sobering. The strange taste botched the elegant taste of my favorite teas dramatically.
++ Yeast dough / dough! The trick I have of my mother. They used for yeast dough / dough has always been low in sugar, but sweetens with "Süsslis" (which are dissolved in the warm milk). Taste falls in the overall result is not negative. Less sugar in the dough has - according to my mother - also affect the consistency, but since I'm not a professional.
My opinion on this product Stevia - Summary:
=============================
From enthusiasm I can not even talk, once of disillusionment (especially for sweetening coffee / tea). Maybe I'm getting used to over time to the taste? I'm working on it ...
Whether it is suitable for weight loss ("diet") difficult to say, this could only emerge in the long run.
The tabs are when you develop a little imagination, not a complete white elephant; they are (pound) versatile as a sugar substitute.
