In general I can say that the device makes a very well-made impression on me. The sculpture seems valuable and robust; the USB connector is straight and firmly installed. Really quite different from the bad glued cheap PSUs with shot tiger USB socket!
But now to the intrinsic values. I have connected several smart phones and a MiFi router, in each case with an AmazonBasics Micro-USB cable. I have measured with a between inserted USB multimeter.
The power supply provides a voltage of idling 5.15V, namely "rock solid". In comparison, cheap power supplies, the voltage fluctuates greatly between 4.70V and 4.90V mistaken, and that all the time. It "flutters" quasi like crazy, even if no consumer is still connected. You close only once a consumer on and the voltage will usually a total and "flutters" even more. For this hardly comes a cheap power supply at all about 0.5A, although 2A are on the case. So my very clear experience with the USB multimeter.
Not so with this power supply! I connect a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE, which is minimal duty machining down to 5.11V, which is normal, but also remains completely stable at this value. A current is supplied from the exact 1.00A - perfect! It blinks very rare times between 0.99a and 1.00A, so my meter still works ;-)
The strongest unit, I could connect a trial basis, a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 LTE was. Here me 1.5A power were at the same voltage ~ displayed what appears to me perfectly normal for this device. A tablet, which would entail a full two amps, I have unfortunately not on hand. Since the voltage but does not fall, I'm assuming that the power supply still has huge reserves. The 2.5A on the label are certainly not lying.
What should also be mentioned:
When the USB connector in the middle two pins are bridged. This is very important for a connected device detects that it is on a charger, not the PC. Because with open middle pins, the device automatically limit to 0.5A! This is in accordance with specifications and with all my known devices like that. So please always make absolutely sure that the two middle pins are bridged to tell the unit that it is connected to a USB-Charger!
For newer Apple devices, this power supply - to my knowledge - not suitable as recognize or distinguish them from foreign accessories this now original Apple accessories. The full current value is enabled only when the original Apple accessories. Alternative power supplies can probably no longer be used because they emit no Apple-specific identifier.
Incidentally, the power supply is only minimally warm, so it seems to me to work efficiently. On the sticker efficiency class V. It is whistles and hums not moreover. Since I had already bad power supplies, the robbed last nerve ...
I'm going in the future even more copies of this power supply order - probably again with AmazonBasics USB cables. Although the are relatively expensive, have with me but always works great. Unfortunately, USB cables insane amount of scrap is in fact also go.
