Customer Review

When discussing Philippe Katerine, nobody is completely irrelevant. This is the kind of artist we love or hate or you love to hate in society, but we still listening at home, well sheltered from that-t say we ...
After an eponymous album "Philippe Katerine," which is as much songbook in schoolboy humor as a work of contemporary art, which really thrills me personally, I had the joy of discovering via their website 52 times in space.
Obviously, one could easily get frightened on hearing a triple album of covers of French popular songs by Philippe Katerine, especially since it is accompanied by an almost unknown group, if not of the jazzeux esgourdes dégourdies well, I named the most excellent "Francis and his painters", whose music is light years away from Carlos, Pierre Vassiliu or Laurent Voulzy.
Yet the magic completely! The arrangements are simply extraordinary, with established musical pleasurable, very guitar oriented "rock" of Gilles Coronado sends a very good wood, the couple bass-drums groove to death and kept keyboards and saxes masterfully by THE Ripolin Francis (François Ripoche) add this note of subtlety and emotion, so special.
And Katerine in? Well the guy, besides having surrounded himself with great effect, puts his particular voice, with which one is tempted to fear the worst, hyper-friendly way of original works. It happens to us vibrate with emotion on "Partir un jour" of 2be3, to deliver us a tear with his revisitation of "Eyes of My Mother" Arno but also to bend us laugh on "Papayou" .
Special mention to "What is ..." Peter Vassiliu for me ultimate jewel of this pop-jazz UFO.
