So far I have my video files either from the iMac streamed to the PS-3 on the Software Media-Link. The disadvantage is that the files had to be converted only PS-3 compliant. This was time-consuming and computationally intensive. Or I have an external hard drive connected directly to the PS3, the disadvantage is that you can play back only files smaller than 4 GB due to the FAT 32 formatting. SO: ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE THE WD TV HD no longer. Installation is super easy, HDMI cable off Toslink cable off power supply off, USB drive and that's it. A quick to Digital Optical Audio menu set in / and that's it. The WD TV HD can handle without problems with NTFS formatted disks, I have two WD drives in operation. So far there was no video format that could not be played. Even with VC-1 encoded, high-resolution m2ts streams with DTS sound, the unit has no problems. The files are partially larger than 30 GB! The image comes in 1080p super keen on the TV and the sound is fine. In addition, any transcoding one video file is omitted, since the player can easily cause BEITEN everything. Note: Be sure play the latest firmware, but in the meantime he should be already delivered with it. CONCLUSION: Buy and amazed. (And have fun) :-) Oh: A control with the Logitech Harmony 885 goes smoothly! The device is in the Logitech database available (just type over "another device" the name, then the Logitech software has the matching entry found quickly). The WD remote control still lies unused in the Org packaging.
