A second point that I feel caeur is translation. This is my first "encounter" with Patrick Marcel, the new translator of Thrones successor to John Sola. In so few pages, I have not really been able to compare and to get an idea, but I found the fluid and pleasant writing. I will wait to read the book 5 in VF before I make a final opinion on the new translator.
I was looking forward to regain Dunk and Egg, two very likeable characters which I would really like to know more. I also was thrilled to learn that George RR Martin provided a bunch of news on the duo! If it is not necessary to have read the Iron Throne to read the adventures of Dunk and Egg, however, requires of course have read the first two volumes of the news before going into it , history to understand why Targaryen heir is the squire of a knight errant penniless. I love the relationship between the two main characters, and the almost constant humor that punctuates their dialogues.
The Dragon Egg is the third new staging Dunk and Egg. The Egg is Egg in original, short for Aegon, but it is also called that because of his bald skull he shaves his hair to hide so typically Targaryenne. Dunk or ser Duncan, is a knight errant who is distinguished by its very tall, among others.
In this new, the two heroes are invited to the wedding of Lord Beurpuits where they decide to go so Dunk participates in tournament organized for the occasion. He wants to earn pennies and do not plan to reach the first place, even if the price offered for the winner is an authentic dragon egg. Soon, Dunk and his squire realize that the tournament is just a cover that hides many things and that rebellion is running ... but I can not tell you, with only 170 pages this would spoil the hardcore. So I'll just say that I again had lots of fun to read a new adventure of Dunk and Egg, the plot is more than exciting and the end I loved.
I enjoyed rediscovering Lord Freuxsanglant, especially after certain events of the fifth volume. It's a character that I hope to see in future news. The Glendon ser story as I liked, it shows a chivalrous side where honor is put forward, quite different from what the series of novels has accustomed us. I love the humor of GRR Martin, for example when he told Dunk that some things are as improbable as the fact that it becomes Lord Commander of the Royal Guard ... Details that make all the charm of saga.
So I look forward to reading the next new dedicated Dunk and Egg, although I think abandon the idea of reading in French. I especially look forward to learning more about the tragedy of Lestival! The Dragon Egg is an excellent short story, but I would definitely wait for the output version pocket.
