IQ-128: This is often referred to as "BC 700" (eg Technoline, ELV, uw) offered or including a "Voltcraft IPC-1L" here on Amazon and on the Web. The reviews on these devices here at Amazon are already very convincing and quite clearly, see, eg Technoline BC 700 Battery Charger black.
IQ-228: From various manufacturers usually sold as "900 BC". Also under the name "Voltcraft IPC-1" available (without "L") and was once at computer screen in Issue 09/2006 even by a wide margin winner. An important advantage over the IQ-128 is the option with higher charging currents to work (up to 1800 mAh). Even on these devices you will find a total of almost only good reviews, but is also more expensive.
IQ-328: For this my knowledge exist until now (June '11) no identical variants. For its technical peculiarities, I'll be right. Actually, I wanted to order the IQ-128 (or 700 BC) because of the good reviews, until I then the "successor" IQ-328 discovered here and both cost the same about. Seemingly perfect, right?
However, this is the "successor" to one thing: (!) The IQ-328 has indeed largely the same outstanding specifications and features as the "predecessor". Opposite the IQ-128 / BC 700 is even the great advantage of charging currents up to 1800 mAh and corresponds in this respect to the values of the IQ-228 / BC 900. However, the only technical advantage latter opposite is the higher maximum load capacity up to 3500 mAh (instead "only" 3000 mAh at IQ 228). Where the existence of such "wonder battery" may be quite doubted what many reviewers already pointed at various places.
The big "but" in this so-called "successor" IQ-328 is compared to IQ-128 / BC 700 and IQ-228 / BC 900 is that it lacks the additional keys for tray selection and thus no longer select the individual charging compartments separately and can be adjusted! It is instead for all four slots a single selected setting pro (un) loading operation. One can initially via "Mode" button on the function (loading, unloading-loading, refresh, test) choose. Button by "Current" the charge or discharge current is then determined simultaneously for all bays.
(Note 1: If one undertakes nothing at all after inserting the batteries, these are loaded by default with 200 mAh "just".
Note 2: As far as I could and understood the test did, there's a - but in my opinion, rather little in common - option whereby each two bays can be used differently. In addition one stocked first shaft 1 + 4 and provides the function and charging current, eg "Refresh". Batteries can then still be placed in slot 2 + 3, but then automatically loaded with only 200 mAh. In this case, no other selection is possible).
Important: The bays are still - just like in the previous models - individually monitored and the discharge / charge cycles are individually controlled by the device software! Neither is the individual changeover to trickle charging and temperature control. Apparently nothing has changed on the good informative presentation of the battery values on the display.
But this for me rather insignificant disadvantage in turn brings a great advantage: Its operation is simple - just a setting for all bays. And this missing option of single slot-dialing represents for me is also not a real drawback, because I want to be engaged with all four batteries do the same rule. Since I am the way, my batteries sometimes with high currents (- 1800 mAh) to pulse, probably already need more. And last but not least, it is a question of price-performance ratio.
After careful consideration, if I should return the equipment due to the lack of each cell-selection, I decided to keep it out of said reasons. So far I have not regretted that decision. So some battery received by the unit back almost the old power back. And the revival of deeply discharged batteries, which were initially reported as defective succeeded (see also the advice of some other reviewers, for example, when Technoline BC 700). Likewise, the (still) existing maximum capacity of batteries could be determined. Like many others here, I have already tried a few battery chargers. Now the Trial and error is over. Because the IQ-328 does exactly what a battery charger can should and what I need. Therefore 5 stars.
