Now to the actual review:
The case comes in a carefully wrapped paper packaging with assembly instructions on it. It consists of 4 plastic layers with protective films, three of which are numbered to facilitate assembly. After entwas fiddly removing the film assembling falls surprisingly easy, not least through a very precise fit. The four layers are tightened by 4 plastic screws in the corners with nuts. Here I would have wished but rather proper metal screws.
The highlight of this case is its exceptionally flat design that clearly stands out from the other (normal) cases of Raspi. I am also in possession of the older B model with a normal round housing (äuse-transparent Plexiglas / dp / B00A7BGXGW). By design, this is a huge difference and I like it a lot more. Nevertheless, all ports are (more on this below up on display and camera interface) accessible without problems. I particularly like the numbering of the GPIO ports, which is for Raspi enthusiasts of particular help.
Now for the downsides:
Maybe it's my Raspi or maybe to the supplied housing, but the range between the USB power and the jack a 1mm wide gap is when you look closely at the case to see which certainly is not the purpose of this "layer styles" is , In all other areas of the layers merge seamlessly. However, this does not represent a particular problem.
The situation is different, as already mentioned above, with the Dislay- and camera interface. The white parts for retaining the connecting cables have to be raised for it. Construction of the housing allows this only with fingers but to no. But if one has a toothpick or other sharp object, this problem is also solved.
Last smear is caused by the flat design inability to fill the chips with the popular aluminum heatsinks. After a short Internet research, this seems not to be necessary for normal Raspi users. Critically, it will probably only when overclocking the CPU and at temperatures above 100 ° C, which is expected to occur not wise normal.
In summary:
+ Exceptionally flat design, very chic!
+ Very nice view of the inner workings
+ USB, LAN, HDMI, jack, SD card slot and GPIO accessible without problems
+ Helpful engraved numbering of the GPIO pins
= Fixing screws and nuts made of plastic
- Display and camera interface unreachable with fingers remedy eg toothpicks
Conclusion: A very smart casing with a difference rangeht on the matter, as all others. The few problems are not real problems, so there are also full 5 stars. Strong buy recommendation at all Raspi 2 owners who may previously not find any relevant case!
