The story

Who wanted to take advantage of cahsback 100 + an attractive price of 427, I let myself tempted by this tablet which proved promising for a bare cost of 327. I did not think to buy it to use it myself, but for offire gift to my father who are really knows anything about computers. Having a product that is all that basic need is therefore very important for this purchase.
At the hardware level, not much to complain about, the screen is really excellent, the tablet is waterproof, and a docking port allows charging without having to play with plastic valves in addition to maintaining a position that allows to watch a movie without having to hold the tablet.

The hardware

The CPU is very powerful, we notice it when the tablet software installs or starts, it's very fast (can be more than ipad air).
The or the rub is that there are several ergonomic problems imposed by the format of the screen 16/10 (already better than 16/9). Indeed, I noticed the following:
-When you are in youtube for example, everything is displayed in very large. on a page (for example popular), is displayed on the left maximum of 3 videos. On the iPad, the 4/3 side can display 5 videos. so you scroll less on the iPad because it has more choices on a "single screen".
-The Shelf is really wide. Some appreciate having enough space to put the thumb, and it is true that it is important to have this space, but it is that one has difficulty correctly use the keyboard. When we want to remove the keyboard from the screen, there is no button on the keyboard that can retract unlike the iPad. There is one key in the shortcut bar that allows to do so. The trouble is that when you hold the tablet in both hands (because one is lying on the couch / bed), you have to let go of a hand to reach the button (not to do is possible but very uncomfortable) and this is due to the overall width of the tray / bezelle centered relative to the button in the bottom center of the screen 10 ".
-L'aspect 16/10 does not allow natively have the screen filled by standard video 16/9. with bezel width on the top and bottom of the tablet (or is the webcam and dock port), it seems to have very broad black bands on the top and bottom. For some, this can be disturbing. But we can take comfort in the fact that the video on this tablet is actually greater than iPad (it makes about 2CM).
The other three complaints I made the tablet a physical point of view (except that the back is very messy, but that everyone knows it by a minimum of research ...):
-The Speakers are not so good as that. OK the volume is loud enough, the sound quite detailed (at the acute and acute-medium), but next to that offered by an Air iPad, there is no photo because the xperia has less volume, has a larger distortion at max volume and lack of wealth as gives less bass and midrange. This is quite disappointing for a tablet which is thought to make a multimedia use only (yes, my father did not read well, but use youtube or video streaming services, he knows ...)
-The Buttons on the wafer (volume + power) are very poorly placed. When holding the tablet in landscape mode, rubbed the palm of his left hand on the buttons, and it's really unpleasant mostly because the volume button has no beveled edges. This may sound silly, but we talk about a subject that is supposed to make in landscape fashion of the time 90% (100% if we look as above videos), so why put unpleasant to touch the buttons or are placed hands?
-the Location of the audio jack is more than questionable, it would have been preferable that it be placed on the upper edge (left or right). It is how to connect the earphones if you buy the cover Sony SCR-12? from what I see in the image capture is not possible to do in all positions proposed by the cover ... I think that the fact that no system also simple as on the iPad or pro surface is a substantial number of android tablet users use less ... Indeed, what do we do with the cover SCR-12 and the position of the jack when you take the aircraft with the tablet and want to take the opportunity to watch shows or movies? short, I hope the next version they will think.
The software

Now to the point that angry and why I did not keep the tablet: The quality of the software and the experienced user experience.
I never had any android devices, because the first generations suffered from huge lag (yes that was the case before android jelly bean, remember?) And that the overall quality of the devices did not seem great. The only manufacturer that last 2 years making me consider a possibly android device is either a wiko (because it's really not that expensive and anyway, on my iphone I do not use extraordinary applications) or a xperia Z (Compact 1/2/1 ...) because the price is significantly lower than the iPhone, and they have a premium appearance (as glass, not plastic, elegant, yada, yada ...) .
Seeing the price of the tablet z2, I think it may be time to move to the android and why not top-level switcher phone for not buying an iPhone 6 (iphone 5 that I I, being already doomed to be offered to my brother-not Santa Claus ...- chui).
So I had a totally open mind on the switch ios -> android, however after 3 years of IOS on iPhone (4/5) and iPad (2 / Air), it must be recognized that the requirements are really high in terms of ergonomics provided by the OS (no I'm not talking about customization, but at least do what it is supposed to do at least a correct manner.
That is not all worries GLOP I found at the use of the tablet (approximately 2H):
-When You turn the tablet and that rotation is not disabled (so if you go from landscape to portrait or vice versa), if one reads a video or music, there is a mute to about 1/4 of a second. Yes it is very short as a cut, but it is extremely frustrating for me who can do it on IOS without nicking at play. This is done with the YouTube application, the Walkman application (reads musics locally), or the video application (which I forgot the name ...). This may be related to the device, or android app, or sony overlay, but hey I do not want to debug a new product ...
-The Store plays planted at the first initialization. he asked me to create a Google account (which I managed to do well) and when I tried to install apps, the Playstore remained empty. I could look for applications (eg Pluzz) but even by clicking install, nothing happened. I kille the app with multi task menu and relaunched google play, always the same ... By a spark of genius, I thought to reboot the tablet, and oh miracle, the play well and store displays I managed to install apps .... Phew, it was missing that you can not install applications.
-The Video playback is not done on some sites. Youtube or dailymotion in chrome, no worries, everything works as well as on iPad. by cons, when you go to [......] the video does not load. Same when you go on streaming services for "holiday videos" as purevid.com ... This is incomprehensible, because on iPad, the video streams are given MP4, what prevents the browser Chrome use these flows? The devices are often andoid ventent to be compatible with a multitude of format, but would not be smart enough to ask for MP4 videos? Why load links flash while the content is not officially supported on Android? You imagine manipulations to achieve for unsuspecting end users (my father at any hazard)? OK maybe it's the websites that do not give the right resources to mp4 for Android tablets when they see an Android tablet user agent, but just the fact that these videos are not working properly "out of the box "I find it sad for the Android community, because if that's the case, then the website developers do not believe that Android customers have sufficient weight to deserve this attention (Why the videos are properly sent for iPad and not for the android tablets? What is the final delirium ???).
-Serieux, There are still people who read the ???? Despite all the nonsense that I unpack here? no I joke, it's not nonsense but goods things that I have infos on the tablet. Anyway, if you are still, good luck, we may be nearing the end :)
-still At the play store, what's the delirium not to propose a research section dedicated to tablets Apps? The latest news Android had expanded well on this level (+ 20,000 app store?) And no, you have to mix everything ... OK smartphone apps are "responsive design" on android, so it was not x2 or x1 fashion of the iPad, but seriously, have a 4.5 smartphone ergonomics "/ 6" (16/9) on a shelf 10 "16/10 is really not the best of what is done ... and this is precisely why we have special application of tablet and should be able to find apps that tablets .... or at least it is easier than trying to guess the words "for tablet "in the name of the app ....
-The Sensitivity of the touchscreen is not consistente:
Many times one can have two problems with diametrically opposite symptoms (as noted in the review youtube).
1) We support, the tablet does not respond, it is necessary to insist in appuyent a second time, or both troisiemme a button / link responds ...
2) It triggers the action of pressing, when we want widget: the first link on which the finger is placed is raised, so that the movement is correctly to scroll, i.e. ask the finger and slide without removing it from the screen ... (cool to open 2-3 in youtube videos, so we want scroller because you only 3 per view videos in landscape mode).
I saw in the settings there was an option to set the time before contact is taken as a tactile command by something like very short to very long, but I have not tried to bidouller with because this feature should work out of the box again ...
For those who are wondering, yes the tablet was up to date in any case of initialization I asked to SHIFT and has downloaded about 150MB of data besides apps sony walkman as I updated too.

I really wanted to love this tablet ... I was even willing to buy the official sony and dock pouch (because longuette USB port seems fragile, and at least 1 / day tablet is loaded) but I did well to just take the tablet and the screen protector + SD ....
The user experience is felt really inconsistent because of bugs in the sensitivity of the touchscreen + various ergonomic problems imposed by the form factor of the tablet and the embedded software. I admit still at the level of build quality and hardware, that's fine (except the speakers a little disappointing, and the audio jack and poorly placed buttons).
If I had never used iPad, I certainly would never have sent the Z2 tablet, because I would have spent more time on the internet to try to circumvent the major problems and I would not have been so frustrated. Unfortunately on this one, I need a device that works with as hacks, because the end user is not only noob computer illiterate but also (we all not had the chance to go to the school, not ...) and teamviewer it does not exist on android (note I say control the android device from a PC, not control a PC with the tablet), so I can not change the tablet distance (yes it happens that a part of the family is in France and one in Polynesia, Argh ...).
Anyway, I was looking for a device that works out of the box for use a video / audio is not with z2 that I am convinced.
Anyway, I think still leave time for the Android platform to mature (2-3 years) and can be as we will have a sufficiently good ergonomics for the leap on tablet. For the phone, unless you buy a wiko no interest in taking the high end, because I'd be frustrated again ...
The moral of the story is that the amazon return policy is very useful :) As for my rating, I put not just on the back of Sony, but a bit anyway, so -1.5 for Physical ergonomics of the tablet and -0.5 for the soft portion not attributable to Sony.
