LivingColors is now in the 3rd generation. According to the data, the current generation brings a slightly greater light output than the Gen 2 lamp, a modified remote control and a large border around the bulbs, which the "crystal clear" version of the gene did not 2. Otherwise, hidden behind the lamp continues to be the same concept. Using the remote control can be controlled and mix so many different shades the individual LEDs. While it is theoretically possible to display 16.7 million colors, in practice, however, this is not possible because the remote control never works so precisely and also the brightness of the color is not unlimited changeable. Nevertheless a wide range of different colors, can be change in the color intensity and brightness despite allows the lamp. Other manufacturers here are mostly limited to a much more limited choice of colors, although Philips could have done without the excessive advertising with 16.7 million colors.
The processing of the lamp is the price quite reasonable. The housing is made entirely of plastic and well finished. The spherical shape of the lamp is flattened for a secure stand on the bottom, so that the viewing angle can not be changed and similar adjustment only by chocks can be realized.
Is thought that the lamp actually illuminates a wall and thus indirectly illuminates the room. Who directed the lamp directly into the room, one will notice some glare at full brightness, this one should consider when choosing a potential installation site.
The remote control is the premium character of the lamp is not quite as justice. On the one hand the lamp for my taste a bit sluggish responds to turning on Farbwahlrad, on the other hand have Farbwahlrad and on / off switch to something great play on to leave a high-quality impression. The Farbwahlrad also serves simultaneously as a directional pad for brightness and color intensity. Unfortunately, it is the color not selected directly, so sometimes you need a lot of scrolling to come to the desired color. The printed color ring around the dial is therefore superfluous. Beautiful would have been, you could here go directly to the printed color.
There were also the early going confusion, as the automatic color changing mode using the remote control is set. The (Short) Guide is here not very meaningful, especially since you should be able to adjust the speed of the color change in the current version. For all buyers who have similar problems: In order to enter the color change work modes, you turn in the on state, the Farbwahlrad 360 degrees and then pressed again "turn on". The rate of color change can be influenced subsequently by rotating the Farbwahlrad clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Is a good solution that allows Philips to be able to control multiple lamps via a remote control. Once I have a second light here, I will supply later on how well this works.
One thing must be clear 210 lumens are not sufficient to a larger space to dive in a reasonably usable light. Here usually requires several lights. Currently running alongside the Philips lamp in my living room, therefore, still a further lamp so as not to stumble in the diffuse light of LivingColors about something. With two lights, this should work better.
As described above, the power of the light is but really good. It can be adjusted very beautiful colors and save at least 2 as "favorites" on dedicated keys. You can pretty easily adjust the light color of the mood, season, etc. or simply the wall color "transform" if so inclined. For this, the light output is just enough. Even on slightly larger walls is achieved such beautiful results that you like to look. And if you're tired of the color, the movement is enough for the remote control.
There remains the question of the price. That's not very low for a simple small lamp, especially the bulb is not replaceable and you must therefore expect a limited term, especially if you want to use the lamp frequently. Who wants to illuminate large spaces, is also the way I play fast with the idea of a second light, which is already a major purchase something for ambient lighting. You will be rewarded with really beautiful colors, even if the advertising promises are quite excessive. However, the remote control does not quite fit to the rather high price, so I can forgive only four out of 5 stars. I can recommend the lamp nevertheless a clear conscience. A second will definitely bring Santa Claus to me.
Update:
Meanwhile, I have two lights from the series. Both can easily be operated via a single remote control and show exactly the same shade of. The Philips has solved very well, because as well as large spaces can be immersed in really nice, colored light. I do not regret the purchase of the second lamp.
Update 2:
Have the two iris lights now combined with the HUE system, thereby controlling the lamps improves again. To serve the lights fully on the smartphone is very comfortable and the lamps work great with the system.
