Circa 2001-02 came the revised "Xtreme" in the market (now - December 2004 - occasionally still available). This now had a titanium laminate tweeter with tonal total vote in the United States. The differences were sound but recognizable only for connoisseurs. I find that the Xtreme a track clearer and brighter sound than the Universe - but those are really just shades.
The current version goes by the simple name "One". The vote was carried out again in the US. The titanium laminate tweeter is the same as that of the Xtreme and the midrange driver has not changed in years. Why should they? The two components are now matched so well coordinated and sound corresponding harmonious.
The technical specifications of the current version, however, are to be treated with caution. Suddenly this box has a maximum load of 200 watts (instead of 125 watts at Xtreme or 75 watts in the Universe) and an impedance of 8 ohms (instead of the other two models 4 ohms). But the fact is that the data are practically the same for all boxes !! The speakers have a rated current capacity of around 50 watts (all three) and an impedance of about 4 ohms (natural frequency dependent). The large differences in the technical data resulting from a modified measurement methods with other criteria and tolerances, which was given from the US. Practically the only difference of one to Xtreme is the new tonal revision of crossover. The sound differences between the One and the Xtreme are thus even smaller than between the Xtreme and the Universe. Nevertheless, we are faced with the most current version of this absolute classic, which has become the Selbstäufer. The speaker you will encounter throughout the world in coffee shops, pubs, the cinema, in halls and of course, more often at home ... ... and for good reason:
Cons:
- Little Bass, what can be expected due to the size, but by an installation close to walls themselves (or better yet: corner installation) can be significantly improved.
Pro:
- One of the biggest advantages of one compared to the Xtreme is the fact that now mounting hardware is included for wall mounting in the price and is included
- Sound: incredibly clean !! Much larger and more expensive brand boxes could Concerning what clarity, dynamics and speech intelligibility of these JBL cut a slice
- Terminal connection simple, firm grip of the cable, suitable to 2.5mm2
- Robust construction
- Pleasant design
- The size, rather heavy-duty
- Magnetically shielded
- Metal grille easily removable
- Anywhere to buy reasonably priced
- Thanks to a series-connected light bulb that begins with growing voltage to glow, the speakers (speakers almost "indestructible") are protected against overload
Conclusion:
I recommend these speakers for:
- Surround Systems
- The upgrading of micro installations (who is the supplied cheap boxes exchanges by these JBL guaranteed experience a sonic miracle !!)
To have touched down as a second pit to hear, for example, in the evening, good quality music without headphones and without disturbing the neighbors with deep bass -
- In combination with a subwoofer as main loudspeakers
- As main speakers if you have a small room turning up (less than 15 square meters) and who can forgo deep bass sounds and enjoying music more and not always fully
All in all, a thoroughly to recommend a loudspeaker that sounds incredibly good for the money and some can put away.
