Initial tests have shown that the USB adapter is capable of handling the full Gigabit Ethernet data rate. Data transfers from my server to notebook running with more than 115 megabytes per second (around 920Mbit / s).
An USB 2.0 adapter unfortunately reaches only about 160 Mbit / s, which is far below the data rate which USB 2.0 creates.
Used the right widespread ASIX Chipset. On my Windows 8 notebook I need not even the included driver.
Connect and get going!
Disadvantage: There is no Power LED available. One sees so immediately if a link is established to the hub or switch, but only in the operating system.
But due to the good price I make no deduction in the evaluation.
