Although the printer is white, but does not have that typical "kitchen Kastl" Design, past generations.
Actually, he looks quite chic and needed for a Canon printer relatively small footprint.
The panel is clearly structured and easy to understand explained in the manual.
With the enclosed instructions of the printer is quickly ready for commissioning.
The device under Windows 7 takes place, using the enclosed driver CD and is run with me with no problems.
Nice are the software goodies, where you can create collages as images.
Under Ubuntu 4.12 can fortunately directly from Canon download the required printer and scanner drivers.
Here: [...]
Simply select Linux as the operating system.
Then download the necessary drivers, unzip and install either the console or through the Software Center.
So you must not call each time in the console, scangearmp with the command, the scanner program and the GUI for the scanner, you can following a link on the desktop to create:
One click to the directory: File System -> / usr / bin / -> scroll down to scangearmp and drag the file with the mouse on the desktop -> Done.
If you want to combine several PDF files into one PDF file, I recommend the program pdfsam od another, with the individually scanned PDF files can be combined into one.
This procedure is required under Ubuntu and Windows 7.
The printer has the following nice features:
Quiet mode: the period where it slower, but quieter prints.
Automatic switch
Shutdown after a predefined period of time: (15min, 30min, 60min and even longer possible)
The printed image is very beautiful, the printer has an acceptable volume although there are certainly quieter models.
The printer is both printing and scanning pretty fast, if you will leave the default settings.
On Windows, there is also a copy function, where you can create either B / W or color copies at your fingertips here.
The printer cartridges, there are only original Canon.
Use CL545 (Black) and CL546 (Color), there are also 545XL und546XL for the time of my review, but were available from any dealer in Austria. (not listed)
Conclusion: I can absolutely recommend the printer positive.
Very good support for Linux, by Canon. (Scanning and printing, no Image Garden)
Reliable power, without too much fuss.
