FixFoto is a great program and you'll get plenty of opportunities to edit the quality of a photo. Functions and settings are very complex, so the learning curve is very steep: Much work quite different from what one is used to from other image editing operations. This applies, for. Example, for the production of masks, which is considerably easier to accomplish with the quick selection of Photoshop Elements.

Focusing on high-quality photos for me has a negative impact, because I miss some features:

1. The color depth of the image can not be reduced. This also applies to export to PNG.

2. There is no Web-Export with preview (eg. To check different compression rates, or color depths).

For both you need then additional software like XnView.

Conclusion: FixFoto suitable for processing high-quality photos, but not for scanning and storing of newspaper articles.
