The receiver is tiny and it could easily be a mouse associated with it (after downloading the appropriate software (M345, Win7).

Addendum: The small deduction to the recipient: One could expect one supernumerary receiver (which have been at some point, as each device one brings) can connect to other computers to use the keyboard there (makes sense only for computers that do not be operated simultaneously). In principle, that works too, but you need the equipment every new pairing with the receiver (a device can thus always be paired with only one receiver). For laptops (call Logitech pairing software, can search new device, this switch on, ready) no problem, but difficult for computers that can be operated without an external keyboard and mouse do not, eventually.
