The Tops: True Wide 28mm (Super on landscape and architecture). Very good possibilities to obtain without accessories also in the macro range very good pictures. Very good shutter lag. No image stabilizer, I was skeptical. I have been disabused. The 6500's can not also. The display is top.
A big advantage is the use of standard AA batteries, or battery's for me. Should it even be energy issues, contrary to expectations, there also the halt at each corner. The Fuji is very economical in terms of energy consumption. 500 pictures on a single charge, and was not at the end (Ansmann battery's 2600mAh).
Smart I find the solution the lens cap to the strap to fix by Holder. The automatic modes are not very important for me. I chose because of the many adjustment aware of the Fuji. The feel is in this price range more than okay. Despite plastic and Elaste the Fuji never looks cheap or rickety. Tops are also to screw the tripod mount and the possibility 58mm filters to the lens.
Downer: Unfortunately, no hot shoe. A second wheel for aperture etc. like the big sister, or the Panasonic FZ 50 would not have been bad. The two ladies but also cost a lot more. The xD card used by me, original Fuji 1GB shall I times against a different make barter. Somehow sparks are not correct.
Addendum: In the meantime I use a "Olympus" 1 GB (completely enough) memory card. Although it is a type "m" to (multilevel technique, see link: [...]) is, therefore, should be a bit slower, this is noticeably faster. The phenomenon "read error" (picture is simply not stored) which is here and there appeared also disappeared. What my guess confirmed to have acquired a "Monday Card".
Conclusion: For me, the Fuji is the buy recommendation in this class and thus 5 Stars. My AE 1 can go in their deserved retirement.
PS: price comparison is worthwhile. Also in the photo shop around the corner.
Addition:
Meanwhile, the S6500 is a half a year in operation and has made about 2500 images. Although the S6500 is not quite handy as a "Compact", yet it is my "always there" No1. Your focal length range of 28-300mm makes them incredibly versatile. Your Bright optics also brings great results in low light without the flash Rauschomat or unpack. Very pleasant with training etc., it's just not so intrusive. The white balance is used to. To my taste, the setting ranges overcast with good visibility. The F Chrome setting in the color "brilliant" to be is to me exaggerated and unnatural. I shoot almost exclusively in P. Mode Here the camera supposedly best setting before, without limiting the possibilities for intervention. The macro function of the camera is awesome. The picture quality is beyond doubt. Their MP 6.1 are more than sufficient. The Fuji does not have to hide from my Pentax K10D (DSLR).
What bugs me a little small things, such as the self-timer repeatedly adjusted and some nested menu. The other manufacturers can better. But if man wants you can always find a hair in the soup.
The quality has convinced me. The camera had been neither a defect or even a loss. It is robust with no end, reliable service with very cold and damp. The battery life (with good and fully charged batteries understood Tip: Sanyo Eneloop or Ansmann 2600mAh) is great. For someone the DSLR equipment is too expensive and unwieldy, but will still be well equipped, the ideal equipment. I'm from the 6500 still excited. A great camera. I would buy me back.
