The camera is in appearance, like so many outdoor cameras and processing is good overall. The entire casing is made of aluminum and weatherproof. The camera has two separate lenses. One for dailies and one for night shots.
Over the years, I had some network cameras in use. These new features now not only through a recording of video and photos in HD from (720p), but especially by a slight initial installation. I know that, unfortunately, much more complicated. Basically, the entire handling of similar ASIN: B00T7LD2DU, only that this is intended for outside and no motor control to move and no WPS connection mode has the WLAN.
Means (a simple options)
The device via smartphone and / or tablet (Android) I can not recommend. This sounds all very nice, but a user account in Foscam is still needed and all I find very fiddly. This is all much easier with the following method:
Wired: The camera is simply connected using the supplied network cable to the Internet router. The rest goes by itself. IP address will be picked up by the camera together with other necessary address information from the router.
If the camera via WiFi to connect, so these settings need to be set from the wired environment once the setup via Web browser. Then remove the network cable and restart the camera and it is in the WLAN.
There can be only one active compound. Either wired or wireless. The wired connection has priority.
Either you install the non-essential software on a PC. When starting this determined by broadcast the camera's IP address. After that, the camera can be operated and set via the software.
Who does not want to install as much software looks best on the user interface of Internet router and checks to see which IP address has received the camera in the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. These needs are then entered as URL in any internet browser. The format is IP address: port number. The port number is by default 88. An exemplary image for use on the web browser I have attached.
In the call via Internet browser, there is criticism that the necessary plug-ins are not installed. Please click on it again and allow installation. In order for a plugin in the browser is simply installed, which allows the control and adjustment of the camera incl. Representation of the videos. That is the type of installation with little programs.
In both cases, there is a menu-driven first set up the camera. Although this is written in very bumpy German but easy to understand. Nevertheless, I feel with regard to the language some pent-up demand from the manufacturer.
After successful device Photos and videos can be played back in HD reliable browser. And the video can be more than excellent in terms of quality and liquid presentation. The infrared mode is very well advised. The night vision works perfectly (automatic switchover to a very good B / W image). I have tried to portray the representation by means of screen prints from the PC.
Then install the Foscam Viewer (not the installation app) from the Android App Store is also a wonderful asset for displaying videos such as on a tablet (with manual setting). But as mentioned, not for the initial installation and configuration. An online account is then not required.
To explain I need to install here, that I am not a fan of forced online account creation absolute nor endorse a Zwangsabspeicherung videos / photos in any cloud. Here, the camera offers exactly what is expected of me. The location can be a place on a self-determined FTP server or even an email address as an alarm detector.
As in the pictures and screenshots can be seen, the camera offers, 50 or 60 Hz display, outdoor mode, color adjustment, split view when using multiple cameras, mirrors and flip .pp (for ceiling installation) etc.
Summary:
A network camera with good facilities and very good image quality at 720p for the outdoor area to monitor the land.
