The concept of the W510 was exactly what I wanted: Tablet and netbook in one, absolutely Windows 8 (not RT), fixed keyboard (so no Bluetooth or Touch Cover as in the Surface devices). Visually a beautiful device, good display. The hours in which it worked, I was just thrilled.
Below I write in note form on easy all the problems I had with the device and ask potential buyers about taking the problem descriptions here on Amazon and in other forms more seriously than I did. I refused to believe this simple.
Problems from the very beginning (despite all the well-rehearsed update, also the Acer, including BIOS update):
Device does not wake up from the sleep mode. Must be turned off and turned on again to get back to be usable (in 9/10 cases). Various settings on the PC (tried various preset profiles, also via Device Manager) managed no remedy.
Touchpad cursor sometimes can not move to the desired location, remains as "standing" in front of a wall. Known issue would, do not bother, because I'm not a touchpad friend anyway.
Touchscreen and touchpad fall out completely when certain devices (such as external DVD drive) via the micro-USB connector on the tablet are connected. The standard USB at the dock was working fine.
Unit starts slowed when Micro SD card is used for memory expansion. These Micro-SD is at a 32GB Windows 8 tablet but absolutely necessary as only about 12-14GB remain for free use.
Bluetooth falls sometimes from just until the function off and turns back on.
Equipment is sometimes very hot, often it does not even have cooled off in sleep mode.
From time to time the WLAN jumps during operation on "limited" and it just is so no internet. (No other device in the household shows this behavior)
When disable the wireless adapter, the Bluetooth Mouse will turn off. Bluetooth switch disappears also. Negligible as disabled for testing purposes only because of the non-waking.
Processing of the tablets very unusual, slightly knarzend while holding in one hand, but I trusted that Acer already knows what they obstruct there. So that it does not fall apart or is damaged and so on.
These things I have all indeed taken into account, because I wanted to keep the device away. But then:
Problems which occurred on day 4:
"Restart" will not work, it will remain on the "Restarting" hanging screen.
"Shutdown" does not work, although the screen goes black, device remains on but. Evident from the fact that the Windows button continues to respond to vibration.
"Power Save" function now works no longer, device no longer wakes from it on: Windows Button vibrate, display stays off.
=> The system therefore could be no longer restart.
As a potential remedy so then reinstalled Windows: With the enclosed CDs / DVDs a very lengthy process (about 3 hours), shortly before the completion of the new installation, the device then remained hanging: it was only to "clean up" 52/53. Even after the power cycle it remained hanging there again. Then I returned it.
Although not "enjoy" many opportunities to remained, comes to me only one Windows 8 tablet in question. The positive moments were just too awesome and exactly what I was looking for: data from your desktop PC (including Windows 8), since under the same account via network fully available, synchronize OneNote 2007 over the network rather than the Internet, Netbook and Tablet a. I already mourning the W510 to very.
Now we have to wait so. In exactly the same concept, only in working.
