Preliminary remarks:
If the 1TB partition of WD Black² has been successfully activated, the rest (partitioning, OS installation, etc.) fairly routine thing. The mechanical drive component is discreetly silent and the SSD Performance disappoint in any way, so that I can whole quite make a recommendation.
BUT:
Neither using the included USB 3.0 cable or other USB adapters or docking stations, it was possible to unlock the not activated when delivered conventional 1TB hard drive. I have tried in vain for 5 (!) Different PCs or notebooks, of course, with the latest WD software. No chance - it always came mutatis mutandis denominated error message "No compatible drive found".
Unfortunately, the telephone contact with the WD Support revealed - despite consultation with the headquarters in the United States - no solution, except that I was offered a free replacement of the allegedly defective drive, which would have taken me too long. Weak support service of the manufacturer!
Because I do not want to give up, I have made further attempts to somehow bring the factory not active from me incomprehensible reasons terabyte partition to life and attempts a direct connection to the SATA controller of various PC motherboards. To cut the matter: only on a single PC (! 11 years old with Intel 875P chipset), the WD Black² correctly recognized, so that with the help of WD software activation of TB partition was possible and the firmware to be updated could. After that everything went well and the operating system could be set up as planned.
Conclusion:
More than to be desired in and of itself a great dual-drive, but the compatibility of the installed controller can remain. Here WD must refuel in any case, otherwise still bite many users the teeth of it.
